In case I haven't stressed this enough in the previous post: My MAXIM example makes no ground towards proving your point about rampant homosexuality erroding our sexual mores.  It is a COUNTER example, since rampant heterosexuality is ever on the rise, but you can go weeks without ever seeing any but the fags you personally seek out (for instance, by visiting this parish you talk about, with the fag bishop you don't like).

I can go weeks without hearing or seeing anything to do with homosexuality.  Oddly enough, whenever I hear or see anything about homosexuality, it's in the form of some Christian argument about how homosexuality is on the rise.

Actually the percentage of humans who are homosexual has remained fairly constant. We see more because we are not as quick to kill them for being visible in societies. Actually homo sapiens sapiens is the 'gay' species; we often have sex for fun.

The rules are difinitely part of it. If they aren't, try to explain how god is a horrible vengeful figure in the OT (turning people into salt towers, lightning people to death, etc...)

As long as I'm going this way, try to explain why in the NT, god suddenly turns into everybody's best friend and starts forgiving people for stuff he would've smitten them for in the OT.

Well the 'Old Testament' incorrectly named for Christian theological reasons, perhaps to validate the 'newer' Christian scriptures as superseding the Hebrew scriptures, yet retaining a connection to the older Hebrew scriptures to try to persuade Jews of the period between A.D. 55 to A.D. 70 to join the movement which later became Christianity. Most Jews were not persuaded, especially the neighbors of Jesus's family. Notable differences between the two religions: Christianity is a creedal religion, and Judaism is not; Christianity declares that there is 'original sin,' and Judaism states that each human has 'yetzer ra' and 'yetzer tov' which are the 'unsocialized impulse' and the 'good impulse'; Christianity, the trinitarians at least, may not arguably be monotheistic, whereas Judaism is hardcore monotheistic; Christianity alone among the major religions claims a deity as founder; Christians, most who cannot read Hebrew, claim to know more about what the Hebrew scriptures say and mean than the Hebrews and Jews do. An example of the latter: "thou shall not kill," as used in most older Christian translations; some newer, more scholarly Christian translations render it as Jews do as "do not murder' or 'you shall not murder."

As to the validity of the claim of many Christians that they know better than Jews what the Hebrew scriptures mean and say I leave to the advocacy theologians and self-professed 'called.' Many Christians believe that only believers in what they believe will be 'saved.' Jews believe that the righteous of all nations will be saved. You don't have to be a Jew to be saved. Christians changed the weekly holy day to a Roman deity's day to separate themselves from persecuted Jews; they altered some of the Christian scriptures to present the Romans in a better light and therefore win Roman favor.
Learn to read Hebrew; it is easier to learn Hebrew than it is to learn Greek or Latin. Do non-partisan research. Then do as I do: learn, but believe any whimsy you wish to believe. It is your right 'cause the Bible told you so.
