There's also the fact that I have an obscene amount of free time on my hands, that's why I'm always here.

That's why my post count is so high. I had a lot of free time during the school year. It's funny how now that I'm not in school, I'm more busy than I was while classes were in...

I'm glad i work. Having so much free time was awful. I still have all the free time i need when not working, but now it's managable. If only i had something more constructive to do with all of it... *eats more Sour Patch Kids*

What exactly about my post do you disagree with?

That most animals dont have a concept of self?
Well they probably don't. Chimpanzees, Oranguatans, and Human Beings; thats it baby.

That tiny babies dont have a concept of self?
Well, they dont, not until age 2, Baby!

That its okay to kill something that lacks a concept of self?
Well it is. If something doesnt even know it exists, then its very hard to imagine it experiencing anything. The experiences would be like a performance on an empty stage with no one to watch them; they'd be meaningless.

Pigs however are quite intelligent though. A lot of people don't realise it.

That being Orwell's reason for casting them as the main characters in "Animal Farm" (aside from comparing Stalin's cabinet to pigs, of course), I believe.

Rory, when you can provide rock solid, hardcore, completely infallible evidence that animals have no concept of self, I'll believe it. Until then, it is my belief that any living being is aware of its own presence. I have a cat that uses mirrors to assist in its bathing, I'm pretty sure that it's aware of its own existence in this world if it recognizes itself in a mirror.

I remember things from back then as well. Although, as stated in an FR thread, I probably don't remember things accurately due to memes and chemicals. tongue.gif

I'm scared of spiders, so I force myself to hold them, touch them, whatever. That, and, of course, I have the fear of rejection that's so rampant throughout humanity.
I'm comfortably numb.

Have you never seen the video for that song? It's a rather excellent collaborative effort from Bowie and Reznor in which Bowie is running scared through a US street, followed by people shooting imaginary weapons. He finally gets into a taxi, only to look out the window and see Reznor standing on the sidewalk, holding an invisible (yet very heavy-looking) rifle. Reznor shoots up the taxi, and then I think he simply leaves. I'm not sure how it ends, but it is an amazing music video, and a really good song as well. One of Bowie's better works from the late 90s.
Anyway, that's where my last post came from. I'm not a huge NIN fan (although I do enjoy their--or rather, his--work, and anticipate the new album), but yeah, my musical tastes are pretty easily detectable in regular discussion.
