Hi everyone, I'm back. Sorry, I've been a bit busy lately. So what are we talking about now? Potato chips?
My personal favourite when I was growing up was salt and vinegar. Can't get enough of them. I loved them so much, I took to dousing all my potatoes in vinegar at dinner time. Call me crazy if you will - but it is delicious.

I main favorite is just plain old salty potato chips, but lately my taste has been drifting more toward salt and vinegar.

This is interesting... in both Japan and Korea, they call hot chips, fries, (Whatever you call them in your own country) fried potato and just leave off the chips part all together.
Actually, that's not entirely true. In Japan, they say fu-ra-i-do po-te-to.
And in Korea, they saw pu-ra-i-du po-te-to... which is a problem that arises from having no 'f' sound in their language and having this English word introduced to them by the Japanese, whose phonetic scripts are useless for writing most English words.
Most English words could actually be written well in the Korean script. You'd have to use their 'p' symbol to represent our 'f' sound, 's' for 'th' and 'b' for 'v'..... but, apart from that, the writing system could represent most of our words fairly accurately. The problem is that the Koreans who write English words on signs or restuarant menus don't have a clue how to pronouce our words. And they all seem to hear extra syllables in English words that are not there.

My apologies for the above lesson about Korean writing and the incorporation of foreign words... I must learn that not everybody is as fascinated by the subject as I am.
Time for a new random thought then -
I have found over various experiences that many drinks taste different when they are stored in different containers and for soft drinks (carbonated in case 'soft' is just an Australian term) and beer, this is especially true.
It is my opinion that the best container for both of these drinks is the glass bottle.
If the glass bottle is unavailable, your next best option is the can.
Failing the can, the plastic bottle always comes in ranked third. Thus, it is a terrible tragedy that we can no longer buy Coca Cola in glass bottles. A big no-thanks to all those irresponsible people who smashed glass bottles in streets and parks and took them away from responsible people who just wanted a crisper flavour to their Coke.
However, thankfully, the flavour of Coke from a glass bottle can be re-created. If you refrigerate a plastic bottle of Coke for a long time until it's very cool and pour it into a glass of ice, you can experience the same taste. However, believe me when I say that the ice is essential to this. Remove the ice and you will remove the crisp, fresh edge to the flavour.
But still... glass bottles are fantastic. And I'd bet they're a lot easier to recycle than plastic bottles too.

I've never really noticed the difference with the containers. And, when I have to drink beer, I hate drinking from a bottle. I just can't do it. It always foams everywhere. Doesn't matter much, I can't stand beer anyway, so if I'm drinking I usually just have whiskey or something.
I went to KFC in Japan once, and tried to order fries. I asked for chips(or chi-pu-su), but the clerk just stared at me and said nani?(what?). So I asked for Fu-rii-zu(fries), and she said nani, so I asked for fu-ren-chiyu fu-rii-zu, and she said nani. So I just pointed at the picture, and she says "Ohhh, potato". I remember finding it quite weird at the time.

I like mayo on my chips
Frite saus is different than mayo, yes? Meh, it's similar enough that I agree with you, but I hate mayo on anything else.
I'm comfortably numb.

What about salad? Its just made for salad. When I have to make lunch, I always make Gerkin and Mayo Sandwitches. And yes, they do in fact have capital letters. My reasoning for this is that I'm tired.

in holland there is also this 'SPECIAAL SAUCE'
yellow crap that tastes great on everything...
as for mayo.. hot chips and tuna only... on anything else... blech*, maybe a chicken sandwich of some sort...

I'm also ignorant as to the difference between containers. I usually only drink soda from cans (I don't drink alcohol at all, and I don't ever plan to), but I remember getting some brand of root beer that was sold in actual glass bottles a few times and thinking it was rather weird.
I tend to avoid bottles all together though...just something about the suction from them annoys me.
