Why does shipping and handling often cost just as much (if not more) as the actual items enclosed in the package? Oh, the joy of sending out Christmas presents to out of town relatives and friends.

Its bloody madness. I've been down to the post office to drop off parcels of my stuff on eBay, and christmas presents on behalf of my mother, so often they're going to leave a window at the post office open to me. And one thing I had to drop off was a card to Australia. They only had two posting rates. One was £1.12, the other was about £44. Guess which I went for?

New PRT:
The other day a couple of my friends came over for a swim. I was wondering why people freak out in water if they can't swim. It's not like swimming is difficult. You just kick your legs a bit. But perhaps I'm just biased. Everybody I know learnt how to swim at an early age. And if they didn't, it's part of the school curriculum. So I figured I'd have to look for international opinions. So, swimming. Is it something that people around you do regularly, seldomly, not at all? Any interesting stories, and why is it that people are so afraid of water?

I once fell in an ornamental pond, if that counts.

I've forgotten how to do anything but breast-stroke, but I'm not scared. An acquaintance of mine, however, hates the art. Doesn't fear it, just hates it. He seems to think its unnatural...

I learned to swim when I was four or five, I think...maybe three...I can't remember anymore. I was always crap at the backstroke, though, I hated how I could never see where I was going...

I fell into the ditch behind my house a few months ago...

I hate backstroke as well. Its a stupid way of swimming. Same as butterfly. I prefer freestyle, breathstroke, sidestroke or survival backstroke. That, and just swimming underwater. Not much for surfing, but I have a bit of fun body surfing simply to get dumped by large waves. Nothing more exciting then getting thrown head over heels through the surf to wash up on the shore in a heap.

I like the backstroke, I find it very soothing. Just floating on my back is kind of nice too. Never did care for the butterfly or the crawl. I'm more of a sidestroke or breaststroke person, guess I like to swim like an old lady.

Favorite songs? It's one of the albums i could live without, but it has it's moments. Have any other of his albums?

Surprisingly, FZ's birthday didn't occur to me until EP pointed it out. Go figure!

only broadway or the hardway...
(which i purchased on tape)

i lived with someone who had all his albums and that 200 motels film, all of which i enjoyed on a regular basis... but never had to purchase... i had intended to get it all on vinyl second hand, but i having not had a player for so many years, i've not got vinyl shopping...

but that's about to change...
