Can't tell me that all of those 186 people listed are really your friends. Other than that - suit yourself, to each his own.

i have a myspace, and like most single guys i try to meet a few women here and there. formerly, when i would use yahoo to search for women in chats,..i would get hounded by chat bots..you know, those girls that just look too damn good to be real and are always trying to get you to go to their special site theyve set up to see naked pics of them.

well, it appears that myspace has tried to take some preventive steps to prevent its site from being flooded with these same type of bots. typing in those funky, warped ass numbers & letters, as if thats supposed to stop all automated registration of such accounts.

yeah right...

so, when i log onto my myspace account, i am confronted with every man's deepest dream. i have scores of beautiful women wanting me to add them as my friend and wanting to talk to me,.like im some damn matt damon look-alike. women with everyday sounding names such as jasmine, jade, ava, veronica, belle, sapphire, diamond...you know,..very typical plain-jane girl names. (yeah riiight).

i mean,..if they really wanted to try to fool me, they could use a pic of a decent looking everyday girl with just a common name like amber, nicole, angela, or teresa. but no..i am confronted with outstanding classy supermodel pics,..every girl is a 10. remember, they are trying their best to decieve me into thinking these girls are REAL...and i want so much to say that theyve succeeded..i really do (not)

by the way. this is the difference between men and women. women are much smarter than men when it comes to this sort of thing. i mean, come on...its not like women get flooded by automated cyber-men with names like dirk, lance, maverick, bo, vaughn, etc.

anyways, i got that out of my system. time to crack open a corona with lime.

ive noticed recently, many of the occasional contacts that would say hello to me on yahoo messenger have vanished. their screen name is still saved on my buddy list, but i havent heard from them in forever.

when i go to search for their name in myspace, i find my answer. many seem to have converted from yahoo to myspace, and have left yahoo pretty much in the dust.

this is very apparent also in the yahoo chat rooms as well. where once they were populated by many peeps, now are almostly completely filled entirely by the sex-chat-bots.

myspace isnt nothing but an advanced and censored version of yahoo. the people that created myspace, probably did so in a dire attempt to get away from the excessive foul language abuse and pornography that engulfs yahoo.

Well you also have the option to make your profile private so if you don't want to join that other game you can open it up to just the people you want to be in touch with. Also, I've found that having the "celebrity" contacts useful with regards to musical artists. It's a fairly easy way to keep up with what's new.

Hi there! You must be new to the Internet! I'm going to offer you some handy advice that will save you lots of time: Girls don't go to Internet chatrooms to meet guys. Those girls you may meet are either old men or young men pretending to be girls because they're creepy or making fun of you.

There are also only about five girls on the whole entire Internet, and three of them are here on these forums.

No, seriously for a moment, you need to have an insane amount of luck to meet someone worthwhile on the Intertubes, and you're really better off trying some face-to-face interaction. I know it's much more difficult sometimes, but you get better results.

That is one good reason to forget about the whole gender thing.
To me it doesn't matter because it's words.
Behind it is not always non fictional.

umm, yeah they do. maybe not in leagues, or flocks, or hordes, but many women do use the internet to seek out someone new.

and why wouldnt a single woman want to use the internet,.it makes perfect sense for them.

most typical single women are:

*busy with school and/or work schedules

*are quite attractive, and due to their schedules, cant go out with their girlfriends to bars to pick up on guys. since they cant go with them, its known that women almost never go alone, for fear of rape or abduction.

*using the internet, women can easily filter many men in a relative short amount of time. usually, they can pick up on who's psycho and who has a heart. it also provides the security of the woman being safe in her home, and not having to meet with him until she decides to meet him somewhere public.

and besides,.its how me and my wife met almost 4 years ago. the internet is just the world weve always known, but being more accessible. you have youre tramps, psychos, weirdos, freaks, and goons,..and then you have intelligent and beautiful everyday people looking to meet similiar people.

youve just gotta know where to go, when to go, what to look for and what to avoid. be nice, be smart, be sensible and patient. besides, if youre a financially secure man who has decent, or even great looks and excellent personality and charisma,.women will find you faster before you can find them.

I met my girlfriend online too, completely on accident. But you can't ever really know someone until you've met them in public, and women shouldn't be hiding behind social crutches any more than men, and from everyone I've talked to, you meet a hell of a lot more weirdos and crazies on the Internet looking for people than you do in person.

Also, I was partially being tongue-in-cheek up there. tongue.gif

as for the friends thing...

all the friends on my list are either co hosts and crew from the show, drinking buddies, bands i've remixed, bands i've been remixed by, bands i've been on compilations with, filmmakers i've supplied music for or acted in, and bands that have influenced me (but generally have worked with someone i know).

well except the mighty boocsh... they're just cool.

I like myspace. I use it to post pictures and keep people up to date with what I'm doing, and to keep in touch/up to date with my friends. I hate the commercialisation and the adding multiple people to say you have a lot of friends. As such, if somebody I don't know adds me, I try to talk to them and if they don't reply I remove them. I notice a lot of complaints about myspace in this thread, but to all of them are aspects of the program that you can choose not to utilize.

i often get bands and musicicans i don't know requesting 'friendship' and i'm cool with that, it means they've probably been listening and its just networking.

I'm the opposite. I reject bands as a rule. I figure they're just trying to force more advertising on me. Doesn't matter if I'd actually like the music or not. I don't know them personally, and even if I did, I'd add their personal site, not that of the band. Hence why I didn't add the ones you posted.
