Didn't Paul also do an article about people on the bus he hates? Maybe bus articles are the new fad.

It could be said with bikes.
Some young fat person wobbling at the centre of the pavement so I can't get passed.
Then it could be argued that the bike takes up space on the pavement.
Bikes not sharing pavement space efficiently.

Can't wait till the day a gas guzzler beeps at me for not sharing enough pavement space with enough people. Then I'd ask whether they can share their car and give me a lift.

Also Capitalism, the art of not sharing.
I see that more as an art of being selfish.
That makes me nearly the same.

hmmm..you were at a considerable distance and she still insisted on making sure you or no one else dared to "steal" the vital information in HER newspaper that she diligently paid her hard-earned 50 cents for?

does she not realize that we live in the information age?

I have never been to New York City, but from what I understand and have seen in television and movies; there are many display and monitors that broadcast news and important messages anyways. (like that huge tv on broadway, and that running ticker display on times square)

plus, you add in the fact that there are 11 million people in NYC, so any major story that happened in news, youd probably overhear in neighboring gossip anyways. add in the fact there are many java cafes you can waltz into for a cheap cup and watch their tvs or read their papers,..why would this woman even care?

was this woman just having a bad day?

i hate to form stereotypes, but i get the impression that this was either an elderly lady who was brought up on markedly different morals of yesteryear, that trying to read someone else's paper is considered rude and unbecoming of a citizen. or perhaps she originated from a foreign country, and those are her customs from that country. i cant imagine this being a young lady, especially a born-raised native of NYC who would be very acclimated to urban culture. i could be wrong though.

Well if she was having a bad day that could have been her way to express it. Another possibility is being stared at all day.

but then she'd have to use a laptop, and elbow people.

that, and you can't crumple the corner of a laptop screen when someone's reading over your shoulder.

well, you *could,* but....

if someone ever opens a laptop next to me on the bus again, I WILL fold the corner down for them.

the best thing to do when someone tries to obscure their reading material from you is act like you can still read it, or that their latest action exposed you to new and far more interesting article or section. Feign suprise and interest and pretend to read whatever you can see.

that'll burst some head veins

Even for me? Then you can pay for the damage except I don't care who looks at it.

By attracting attention from people like that you could make them do some pretty amazing things if they follow. On some people it only takes a funny random finger movement to give them a bad day.
