I think Transformers was Masters of the Universeesque in its disregard to following the original cartoon/comic. Of course, Masters of the Universe was likely the greatest offender of not following the original storyline that I can remember in my lifetime.

But then there's 'The Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy'

"it's at the other end of the universe" indeed... way to kill that story line.

I'd point to Queen of the Damned as the worst offender. All of the characters were changed or flat out cut, the original legend was just disregarded, a main character was left out, Akasha's personality was changed, and Lestat's background was paved over. Those are just some of the reasons that the soundtrack to the movie costs more than the dvd of the movie itself.

Queen of the Damned pretty much combined (with much cutting out) The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned. I was pretty disappointed with it. It would have been better if they stuck with the trilogy - they would have made plenty of money from all the Ann Rice fanlings.

I'm griping. my car died so I have no transportation.

were you listening to david bowie when your car died?,..just curious. unsure.gif
Peter Brady was by far the ugliest Brady kid on the "Brady Bunch". I mean, they were all pretty ugly, and the fact that the Brady dad wanted to always take the boys out on overnight camping trips just a tad bit too often, gave me the creeps.

Look on the bright side, Masters of the Universe at least ended with He-Man (Dolph Lundgren) knocking Skeletor (Frank Langella) off the the platform whatchamacallit instead of having that Earth punk guy pushing Skeletor off the platform. If anything could rival Anthony Anderson's cringeworthy acting, it was watching Shia can't-spell-his-last-name save the day jamming the All-Spark into Megatron's chest while Optimus Prime is going on about how he must put the All-Spark to his own chest, then we actually have Prime saying to Megatron's corpse "Forgive me brother, you left me no choice" even though he didn't actually do the killing. I was like c'mon, even in the 1986 animated movie it was shown that Prime was clearly intent on killing Megs, the new movie should have shown Prime shoving that All-Spark down Megs throat.

I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an obi-wan to go.

yeah..when i heard that line...it reminded me immediately of what Obi-wan said to Anakin at the end of ROTS

whats really dumb about all of this is how un-canonical this new film is to the cartoon..its totally unfaithful.

first off, you have bonecrusher and devastator coexisting simoultaneously as seperate entities, when the cartoon clearly showed that bonecrusher was indeed the left arm module of devastator. the only way michael bay could have been faithful to the series was to show his incarnation of devastator in robot mode missing his left arm.

where the hell is prime's trailer??. ok, i know in the cartoon it would always roll of mysteriously into the horizon when prime transformed into robot mode...perhaps starscream, skywarp & thundercracker were attacking prime's trailer, when prime was too busy confronting megatron. Seeing Prime without a trailer on the big screen just seems naked to me

megatron's face looks like a metallic death trap vagina

anyone who remembers the episode "War Dawn", knows Optimus Prime was formerly Orion Pax and that he hung out on Cybertron with Dion & Ariel,.when Orion first saw Megatron,.he thought of him as some new uber-cool flying robot he never saw before...not his long lost brother.

Michael Bay is featuring Rumble in the new film, sans-Soundwave,.and that brings my piss to a boil. Soundwave is badass and needs to be in the film. Nothing rocks me more than hearing Frank Welker on a vocoder. If Frank cant or wont reprise the role, then get the next best guy to do it. I wont even vent my frustrations that Rumble looks like 15 pairs of toe-nail clippers weilded together.

The small Starscream cameo served Starscream no justice. Yeah, I know he was imploded to nothing but rubble by Galvatron in the 1986 film, but if he is gonna be brought back, do it with more class.

Bumblebee is a mute with a jacked-up radio.

Jazz went from groovy to ghetto

Ratchet went from medical genius to being somewhat of a nuisance.

There are absolutely no combiners in the film...unless you want to believe in the plausible theory that devastator was missing his left arm all movie long,..your call, and thats my two cents on it all.

It's apparently a generic action movie with Transformers in it. Instead of griping about breaking canon, look at it on its own merits or lackthereof. Maybe I will see this movie some day, but I am very dissuaded from it by the running length and Michael Bayness, and Even Stevens' brother.

Scroll through that, and you'll find a piece I wrote on the Transformers movie, not long before it came out here in the UK
