Just another quick FYI for people wondering about the new DVD. I heard some people saying that Vader was shown with eyebrows in ROTS (as he's being sealed into the suit) and so this made the change in ROTJ 2004 unnecessary, so now this can be put to rest.

They burnt off along with his hair on Mustafar!

If you freeze frame, his eyebrows are gone, plus you can see they're not part of the makeup in the behind the scenes featurettes either. His eye LASHES somehow survived but anyway...

There's still lots more of the DVD stuff I haven't gotten a chance to scour yet, but that was something I just wanted to comment on. wink.gif

someone just gave me the DVD...

in a featurette Ewan McGregor says to Hayden (looking at his burn make up) "it's wierd because i can see you're eyebrows"

i think that may be what sparked it...

but i've noticed a few changes made to the DVD from the cinematic version. I'll check my bootleg version and do a comparison later.

i'm pretty sure their lava baords didn't have forcefields underneath before too...

Could be. I heard that the DVD's presentation of the film was going to be "unchanged" from the theatrical version, but you never know. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some minor tweaking, like what they did with AOTC (minus of course the insertion of a couple lines of dialouge.. I mean like Jango's sparking backpack).

I'm pretty sure the floaters had the blue "force field" glows, but yeah, that'd be something to check.

In the shot with Anakin recieving the mask it almost looks like he still has eyebrows if you're not focusing on it, but I paused and looked closely and they're definately gone (at least in the DVD version) plus the makeup didn't show his eyebrows (I haven't seen the part you're referring to).
Maybe so...

Personally I think removing Shaw's eyebrows makes him look even more "humpty dumpty"ish (and in the Lowry Digital restoration his face is drained of all color so he's literally gray... though he still had a little touch of pinkness to his face before IIRC, which matched the back of his head being fleshy in ESB). It also serves to make the bald cap Shaw is wearing that much more obvious. sad.gif

The title of this thread sounds like it should be a piece of Rebel Alliance graffiti.

If there were some commentary by a Professor of World Literature on the DVD stating that Padme lost her will to live and Vader becaome enraged at all around him because his wang burned off, it would go a long way in explaining things in the PT. Personally, I could live without eyebrows, because you could get one of the clones or a droid specially tasked with just drawing in eyebrows to help you out every morning, but missing a wang is something i couldn't overlook so easily. It also explains why there are little or no women in the OT part of the SW universe, and how Vader may have been enraged at the site of Leia on the Death Star in ANH because the hairdo and her feminime form reminded him what he did froliking in the grassy plains of Naboo with Padme with the giant potato creatures silent witnesses to the whole sick spectacle. Would also fit in nicely with Anakin/Vader's screaming "I HATE YOU!" at Obi Wan, whereas previously before he had very little pretext for doing so based on Obi Wan's actions. The loss of the wang also alludes to Lucas' loss of the drive that made him famous and which made the OT so great, and i don't need Joseph Campbell to tell me that.

LOL! This forum is awesome for humorous SW related quips. Thanks for that!
