The phone companies.

If not, I think I misunderstood on what you said here:

"when discussing phone companies, the word "mistake" should always appear in quotation marks"

well it's generally the phone companies that make the "mistake" and the customer who has to finance it...

Yes, recently a mobile phone company broke their contract and let their customers over the agreed limit. (An option to cut off their mobile phones after they reached over the free minutes or a below certain price.)

They said the cap was removed because those customers are "valued" people. Also they claim it was their responsibility, "How were they mean't to know."

After complaining to a research board, the company had to pay back the money.

much likethe national australia bank (NAB) who allow overdrawing from ATMs and provide a 2 day lag in account status so that, for example, you go out drinking, check your account the next day to find that you didn't take out as much as you thought you did and so withdraw more for shopping only to find out two days later that you actually did drink out as much money as you originally thought and so there was no money to withdraw the day you were misinformed by your local ATM and took your account well below 0 wich will incure a fee that will put you further in debt and completely negate your next deposist screwing up your finances for the next week...

i'll bet there one of these many banks that charge $2.00 for typing in the wrong PIN.

bastards...

these companies, it seems clear now, only run on a trust they constantly betray and yet people just take it becuase they're too scared to make a stand. and the few brave enough don't have the support.

and that's why the corporations are fucking evil team america!!!

I heard about that, in some cases I also hear they make money out of the delays. That sounds tight for charging $2 for the wrong pin, so for someone who steals your card and attempts to use it, it seems they are being payed $2 in advance for "protecting."

Personally I ensured that my bank does not allow over draw because that will give them an excuse to charge me around $40 (in that currency) each a couple of days without paying. "Why do I need overdraw when I save up in the first place?" "Because we are reliable if you need more than you have in the account" I said "I won't be reliable when paying the interest back."

banks are pure evil...

this is why they open at 9:30am and close at 4pm... to lessen your chance of bothering them... knowing that probability has it that you'll only walk in on your luchbreak with everyone else and spend the hour in a que being served by only one or two people....

i mean they give like 0.01% interest to your savings, charge you for everything, play the international stock market with your cash and share none of the gains, provide you with unreliable information a bout your account overcharge you for overdrawing, take no punishment fro closing early, hire bugger all staff, and then give you attitude when aske them to change notes...

seriously... we should fire bomb the lot of them.

Years ago I use to get 4% until and now I get .2% I agree with that, also from what is seems, and the attempts of trying to charge people for using cash machines. In 2004 I got served really quickly (at the back of a long queue), that was because they thought I was a terrorist at first, until showing them proof, just wanted to open up an account.

...is it by any chance a funny story, how you got mistaken for a terrorist?

No, it's pretty impossible for him to get mistaken for a terrorist.

After all...

I was expecting you to do something like that, to see what happens if I did not state anything further.

Also how could I look like that robot when you have not seen me yet?

The real reason was my beared you see, I like to keep it long. People may look at me like a terrorist, but one good advantage is, I get served quickly.

Right, I take it that this is a joke that is not negative?
To me it would have sounded good if it was in a form of a question.
Perspectives differ all way round.

Trying to see how to "not" sound like a robot.

You might see why I came up with Floppy Discuit (Disk and Biscuit), your avatar reminded me of a biscuit man, a long time ago.

Okay talking of long phone bills, why pay when I can get it free from lauching a voice server?
Need a reasonable connection for that but might be worth it for people who talk long.

Not a story, it did happen when I was opening an account. There was a large queue ahead, to the entrance.

Couple of minutes later, a man in uniform looked at me strangely, and took me into one of the private rooms and formally asked for a passport and proof of who I was. He went away for around ten minutes and came back in an all "relieved" expression, then he served me in opening an account. After, he explained that I look suspicous before, because of my beared and that they have to be careful. Also some people keep on point out that I look like a terrorist with the beared.

my relationship with beards is quite weird...

as i let it grow...

after a week (especially with my round sunglasses) i look like Leon (the professional), two weeks: salmon rushdee, three-four weeks a young college professor, and i imagine i'm entering terror suspect #3987 area if it get's any longer than that!

Well another point is that I either have a beared or don't, shaving seems so much wasted effort.
