So, I was thinking a few nights ago and inspiration struck. I have way too few CD's, and I want to get to know some new tunes.

So I created Frankenstien this.

It's a livejournal community dedicated to sharing music with one another for free.

What you do is post list of albums that you have, then you browse through other people's albums, select one you want, and send them an e-mail telling them which CD you want. Then that person e-mails you that CD in your G-mail account. Included in the e-mail will be the name of the CD they want off your list. You send them that CD, and good music is spread for free.

Even if you don't have a livejournal account, making one is easy, and you don't even have to use your journal to be in the group.

If you want to join, but don't have a G-mail account, you can always ask me for one, as I still have 100 invites left.

There are a few problems, though. G-mail has a limit of 1000 (I think) Kbs attached to a single e-mail. That's bad, because normal albums are something like 10 times that. I can't think of a better way to do this, unless we create some kind of website, but I think a little bit of trouble is worth going through to get free music.

Feel free to make any seggustions.

Hope to see you there.

Easy solution:
Bit Torrent.

That way, all you're sending is a small, maybe 10kb torrent file, and the person receiving the file downloads the audio straight off of your computer. Makes for some shady transfer speeds, but it's the most straightforward solution to your problem.

As noted by the recent changes to my own site, rapidshare.de is a very easy way to share large files. You can upload anything below 100 mb, and they do allow split archives, so you can always upload two separate files if need be. So if anyone's still interested in doing this, that would likely be your top solution if you're unsure about mucking about in bit torrent.
