In one of the iconic scenes in ANH, Threepio and R2 part company after emerging from the escape pod and Threepio walks past a big skull and vertebrae of an impressive looking beast, maybe a Kyrot (sic?) Dragon Obi Wan immitates to ward off the remaining sandpeople Anakin killed off in the past, but we see in the future/ It was alluded to duting the making of the PT on various fan forums that we'd see the beast that the remains belonged to and some sort of duel which would lead to its demise as boney remains would have been highlighted onscreen. If there are more of these things around, Tattooine isn't a safe place to live for sure, let alone raise a kid, not to mention one you've got all your chips on to restore order to the galaxy.

i don't think a guy in brown robes waving his arms around in anyway convinced anyone he was a krayte dragon...

if anything, he was probably just yelling in tuskan: "Hey, everybody! It's so nice to see you... I haven't had any visitors since I contracted mandalorian-syphilis!"
