What I don't understand is why people are making such a big deal about the religious theme. Yeah, normally I would get really pissed off about those kinds of things (I'm agnostic), but that's just how the story goes, and I'm not going to shun a classic piece of literature just because it's not entirely secular. Aside from the obvious references (Sons of Adam/Daughters of Eve, and Aslan on the Stone Table, etc.), it's not like you can't read it like it's any other fantasy. It's a brilliant, beautiful story no matter how you choose to interpret it.
I'm actually going to be quite disappointed if they sacrifice story for huge battle scenes...
