I have no clue where this retarded idea came up with. im sure you heard the musical noise while he was falling and in order to come up with another reason to hate, you warped it out of proportion. i dont know why this pisses me off so much but it does.

The scream was the worst idea ever. George seems to have the monopoly on those lately.

The scream was put in the Special Edition when the trilogy was rereleased in theatres in 1997 or so, and appears on the VHS Video releases of the same. I was removed when there were things added and removed to the OT DVD set of about a year or two ago. Was there, fans complained bitterly, and Lucas backed down to remove it.

He wouldn't have because the scream was expunged from the DVD version of the OT. It exosted only in the theatrical release of the Star Wars Special Edition and the VHS rerelease some months later.

Yeah. My point was, like Greedo shooting first, it was stupid to put it in and then remove it.

The scream completely defeated the nobility in Luke's leap from the platform in Cloud City and made it look like he'd slipped and fallen.

Yes, but when Anikan slipped and fell it was stirring and noble. The stuff that people will tell their grandchildren about. Lord Vader would never cry out in such a pathetic and disappointing way. wink.gif

It COULD have made sense. I mean, who cares if he "chose" to jump off and it was a noble suicide attempt, whatever. The point is, once you begin falling, your heart is going to leap in your throat and you'll piss your pants.

It's one thing to make the decision it's another to live with it!

Also, in the shot if you watch closely, his mouth is open... so I guess Lucas figured it fit.

He cheaply and crappily recycled the Emperor's scream from ROTJ of course.

Anyway, yeah, if you watch the 1980 original, or the 2004 DVD's you'll never know the difference.

It's just we folk who saw it in the theaters in 1997, and watched the tapes and laser discs for the next six years who had to live with "the scream."

I actually was watching a new hope the other day, and i have to admit, the greedo scene doesnt look that bad. You can barely see who shoots first, and i think maybe possibley, it has always been that way, just in the old version its harder to tell. the virtually fired at the same time, and the flash from hans blaster most likely threw off greedo thus causing him to miss.

thats my fanboy explanation
