Really sad news about Pat Morita. Mr. Miyagi, in my humble opnion, is the best on screen trainer/master/sensei ever. Sorry Yoda, he's just light years ahead of you.

Had the eighties lasted longer I think the power of his head band and the fact that he was rad would have allowed him to live forever. If only 'twere possible! He shall be missed.

Ah, yes. Noriyuki "Pat" Morita --- probably the wisest, most sensible sage Hollywood has ever known.
There were, as I recall, four Karate Kid movies --- the fourth, The Next Karate Kid, being notorious for including the first national exposure, albeit in its end credit sequence, of Des'ree's one-hit wonder "Ya Gotta Be," a tune later perpetuated by an ad campaign for ABC's Good Morning America.
Now I shall no longer think of Miyagi-san without hearing "Ya Gotta Be" --- as the centerpiece of the tune's chorus boasted a reference to the notion that 'love will save the day.' You have earned your rest, Wise One. Sleep well.

Thats a shame. He must have felt embarassed when he read the script and saw all the pidgen english he'd have to force out in those films. They were a definate chunk of my childhood though.
In Japan, 'Karate Kid' is called 'Best Kid'. I wonder why?

that's really sad. HE was cool...
oddly enough i saw an episode of caroline in the city the other day on cable while getting ready for work and he was on it.
he played a video store owner who kept trying to get people to hire 'BASEketball'
"It's funny, it's about two guys who invent a new game! half baseball, half BASEketball!"
i just thought it was funny...
but he gave a really good speech in it about people who attract negative things to themselves, which other people have said to me but i just sounded better comming from him, and it actaully had impact.

I heard about this a couple of days ago at work and couldn't believe it at first. Damn this sucks.
Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.
"And the Evil that was vanquished shall rise anew. Wrapped in the guise of man shall he walk amongst the innocent and Terror shall consume they that dwell upon the Earth. The skies will rain fire. The seas shall become as blood. The righteous shall fall before the wicked! And all creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell!" - Mephisto
Kurgan X showed me this web comic done with Legos. It pokes fun at all six Star Wars films and I found it to be extremely entertaining.
