new clone wars cartoon

QUOTE
'Star Wars' Creator George Lucas Prepares 'Clone Wars' Cartoon for TV

LOS ANGELES — The wars aren't over for "Star Wars" creator George Lucas.

Lucas said Wednesday he's making an animated TV series of "Clone Wars" that could air next year, although he hasn't sold the show to a network yet.

The series is set during the time when the Republic is fighting a civil war against separatists led by Count Dooku.

The mythic period hasn't been dealt with too much in the popular "Star Wars" movies, so "it's a fun place to go," Lucas said.

"It basically has all the main characters" such as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Lucas said, but the stars who played them in the movies won't voice them for the TV show.

"There's nobody famous," Lucas told The Associated Press in a telephone interview.

The show is planned as a continuation of the Emmy-winning "Clone Wars" that aired in 25 episodes on the Cartoon Network from 2003 to 2005. That series used limited animation. The new version will use 3-D computer graphics.

It's one of many projects being pursued by Lucas, including a fourth "Indiana Jones" movie.

"We're working on it. We haven't agreed on a script yet," Lucas said.

The mind boggles - they didn't really settle for a script for the PT either.

I don't intend to waste any more of my time watching this shit. I was insulted enough with the PT, especially considering the FIRST Clone Wars 'toon was supposed to be watched prior to RotS, which was supposed to explain the situation, including General Grievous, the cough drop spokescreature.

I thought the Clone Wars cartoons did a good job of explaining what happened between AOTC and ROTS.

However, I don't think the future of Star Wars should be focused on inbetween events. I think a good story could be done describing what happens after ROTJ. I sincerely doubt the Empire would have collapsed instantly with the death of Palpatine.

I never watched the AOTC cartoons. The animation was nauseating. Somebody needs to strangle GL so he stops getting money from us. I'd rather give my money to the Democratic party.

... ok, maybe not. But you get the idea.

they did a good job of making up for time wasted in episode 1. if episode 2 had been 1, then 2 could have covered those events. and then we might have a proper trilogy on our hands.
if anything... the cartoon series should have documented episode 1 events.

baby anikan go cart wars. now that seems more appropriate for a comical cartoon format.
not the friggen clone wars where all the action is.

but the last episode led straight into the last movie... THERE IS NO IN BETWEEN! what the hell is this show going to be about????

An all GL network would be far to egotistical.
Besides it would have very little intreset unless he turned it into a reality show with 24/7 George watch. Kinda like BigBrother.

As for the Clone Wars, perhaps this is a way for the whole Lucasfilm family to redeem themselves after Eps. I, II and III.
Lets face it the flow of the last film was way to fast. Anakin went from a good little jedi knight to a full on rebel prepared carry out genocide on his people.

The Clone wars where shorter and better than the movies, so Georgie's going with what works best. I encourage it
as long as he gets it right.

I got the impression that the CG "Clone Wars" series was actually just going to be a re-telling of what we've already seen in the cartoon show.

Perhaps it might be a "re-imagining" but I thought it was going to cover the exact same material as before.

A brand new one? What, would they just show us what certain characters were doing at the same time as other things?

There's other events they could cover which were detailed in the two prequel novels that took place before the ROTS novel, and the two novels for Episode II...

I think they could do it if they wanted to cover the stuff that hasn't been covered. I am just not sure who would be very interested in it...

There doesn't seem like anything new to cover and all the best stuff has already been done. Hence also why I thought it would just be a retread...

Who knows.

Lucas hasn't used a script since SW Episode 6. Possibly Episode 5. He hasn't used a good script since American Graffiti.

That is super harsh yet very probable.

It would be so easy to do a new clone wars.
Just add in a whole bunch of jedi we've never heard of
or use a few from the KOTOR games and voila.

There could be so much to work with it would be insane.
Plus maybe they could finally get around
to that whole Anakin/Padme/Obi-wan love tirangle.

Except that the Jedi from KOTOR would be long dead by now (KOTOR takes place a few millennia before the original trilogy, right?).

That hasn't stopped the EU from doing crazier things, but oh well.

I will be really surprised if it's "all new," I'm pretty sure it'll just be a souped-up retread
or re-imagining of what's already been covered in the previous cartoon series.

The real question is, will it look more like "Toy Story" or "Shrek" or will it go for a less caricatured more "realistic" (but still necessarily unrealistic) look like "Final Fantasy: the Spirits Within"? Or something else? (crazy cell shaded video game tie in?)

He might just decide to use storylines
from the clone wars digest.
Which could probably give the show a full season.
Each book had like 3 or 4 different stories in it.

And i know the one thing GL can do
is drag out a storyline
to meet the time quota.
Plus i'd rather have the show

look like 'Shrek' or 'Toy Story'
then them try to be all uber realistic
and creep my out like in the
'Polar Express' or Gollum from LOTR
