Perhaps ET was a double agent for the Empire. He didn't seem at all keen to get home at first, he WAS visiting a country with inhabitants very much like many members of the Rebel Alliance ... he could have been sent to spy on the behalf of Palpatine ... which could make Eliot the greatest hero on Earth. Also Drew Barrymore could therefore be the one to break the Star Wars actor curse!
Hmmmmm it's all starting to make sense

the fact that SW figures and Yoda Costumes are present in Elliottown, is beacuse it's a movie. ET cameos SW as a fil franchise and SW cameos ET as a reality...

and that's lame...

it's a lot less cool than nancy saying "never trust a junkie" to Sid Vicious while he was in the sex pistols with Johnny Rotten who formed Public Image Ltd. with Martin Atkins who later breifly joined Ministry who, the next year, sample "never trust a junkie" from the film 'Sid & Nacy' on their song 'just one fix'...
