I'm curious if you think I should read the novelization. I'm EXTREMELY tempted but I wonder if it would "spoil" the movie for me. Could it help me to get a jump on writing the "xx # of Reason to Hate ROTS?"

I am confused. I don't know what to do!

Let me know what you think and why you think it. smile.gif

Don't read it. You're the one who's got to go in with as few preconceptions as possible, so you can give as your true thoughts on the movie. I know it's tempting, but please don't.

On the other hand, how freaking stupid was it of Lucas to release the book a freakin month and a half earlier than the movie?

ah, Lucas... the master of suspense.

remember how he chucked a fit because pics were leaking on the net...
it just goes to show you he's more of a 'visual' guy...

he should direct pornos...
his direction of acting is at about that level... thumbsup.gif

I read the novelizations of TPM and AOTC, trying hard to delude myself into believing that there was something redeeming about the prequels, but alas, it was all for not. I hope authors Terry Brooks and RA Salvatore got paid a lot for their efforts in novelizing that crap (especially Salvatore, who had the unpleasant and impossible task of trying to make the AOTC "luv story" seem believable).

I don't think I care enough anymore to read the ROTS novel.

I don't think it's a good idea. Best to go into the film with an open mind (heh). As open as possible, at least.

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

I'd say no, but then I read the script. Anyone else read the script?

Yeah, I read it, and I personally think that it's a load of crap to begin with. But I never expected anything better in the first place.

Oh, and for my answer (silly me, I forgot to write that!) no, I don't think you should read it. You're our no: 1 critic for ROTS, and I think it would be best if you saw the movie first and read the novelization later.

Speaking of which, maybe you should BUY the novel, but not read it until AFTER you've watched the movie... that way, we can get to see the full extent of the stupidity that GL has made

And yes, getting the DVD won't hurt either. But as for me, I'm not watching it in the movies, I'll be waiting for its release on video before getting it. I'm going to give as little of my money as possible to Lucas on this occasion.

Wow, well it's 100% for NO so I'm going to skip it if you all feel that strongly. smile.gif

I've remained relatively spoiler-free so I guess I will have as open a mind as possible when I enter the theater.

Yeah, I don't get it. Why release the novel a month an a half before the film comes out if he's trying to be so secretive?

Also, the TPM soundtrack that came out well before the film contained a track called: "Qui-Gon's Noble End." Way to spoil it, jerk. dry.gif

yeah, i want to read your scathing review - without you having any notions of the movie beforehand...

my god, i'm looking forward to your 'reasons' list more than the actual movie.

To be fair, I think it was fairly certain that Qui-Gon would bite it before the movie ended. At least I thought so.

Why'd Lucas have to introduce all of these throwaway new characters anyway? Obviously you've got to invent some but he goes way overboard.

I'll buy the novel after I see the movie.

Lucas is getting alot of my cash from all thses books about Ep. III that are coming out. I think I'm one of the few here who is excited about it.

Why would anyone want to read the novel? Sitting through the movie for two hours is bad enough, let alone suffering through the rubbish for the extra hours it would take to read the book.
