QUOTE (Slade @ Aug 22 2005, 12:45 AM)
No, silly, after FDR won for 4 straight terms, the Republicans threw a crying fit because they'd lost power and made it so one person can only run in two presidential elections in a row. He's had his two, so another Republican has to "win" the next one.

I understand your political system, and i'm aware of that clause...

it was an intentional statement.

he'll pull some loophole.

maybe even by admiting to rigging the last two elections.
Florida had no say the first time, and dead people voted last time.
so the next term would actually be his first legitimate term.

(all in all, i think it was a loophole in itself that he was alowed to run at all... 'cause now the bush family has had three terms... continuing the same work. and WTF is that all about?)

Dubya isn't gonna run again - he doesn't have enough clout - or brains to try and knock the clause. And the forces behind Bush probably know he cant win a third time.
Tremble in bootses - the only clause the Republicans are trying to knock is the 'natural-born citizen' clause. You guessed it - there is enough time from the elapse of governance term in California and the election of the President. The powers that be are trying to put Arnie in the White House.

Well, that might be one way to get a conservative justice in the supreme court.

Slade - I wish I did.
But take a little look in the background, not on a presidential level - maybe at a few congressional transcripts and you'll see that since Arnie became Governator there has been an effort by Republican politicans to spread interest and awareness of bunking the natural-born citizens clause - with the end of allowing politically influential foreign-born citizens a chance at the Presidency.
So just as Arnie was the Governor of California in that movie 'Dave' (I think), and in Demolition Man they said that because of his popularity they amended the clause and he became President. It is within reasonable possibility.
(*Heartbeat of the Machine*)
What would they call him anyway - he goes from Governator to Presidentinator - Termident, Terminisadent, what?

What difference would that make? No one declares war against the US any more ... the US is the ATTACKER! Hell, the US could have been just as much the attacker with Ross Perot.

no way civ, you're living in the past. Russia and China could be the attackers. They even got N.Korea.

I think if russia and china did attack us. Japan, India, Britain, Poland, US, Canada(ha), S.Korea and maybe france (fags) would all join sides.

It would be world war three. It seems like an unfair fight by China's army is probably greater than all of the above combinded.

Where did you get that bloody silly idea - and then get the silly idea of saying living in the past when you bring up an idea that went out years ago - also U.S. army is larger than China's, though China has largest airforce.
Also - India would not choose either side in a China-US war.
And what is wrong with the french - they do good bread.

Russia and China and North Korea are not going to mobilize an attack on US soil. If there is a World War between the US and those countries, it will be in one of those countries, with the US attacking, probbaly to "defend" themselves from attack. And nine out of ten they'll be attacking civilians. Like they did in WWII: a US military base on foreign soil was attacked with a full declaration of war, and the first thing the US did in response was to bomb a civilian target. The Japs continued to not bomb US cvilian targets the rest of the war, while the US bombed the shit out of Japan. The US military strategy is terrorism.

Also, them gays have rights.
