And a bathtub/soap combination is 76% more likely to kill someone in your house tonight than your neighbor's dog. So everyone needs to quit washing.

Mnesymone, I know a way we can get rid ourselves of that last problem.

"Well kids, I guess your father isn't a hermaphrodite."
"Izzy! enough with the rabid smootching!!"

Sounds like a plan.

Wayne: That statistic is only there because your family is in your house more often than intruders. It's kinda skewed. I'm not arguing here, just pointing out that flaw. It's sort of like saying something like an African Bushman is five thousand times more likely to be eaten by a tiger than a white guy in the same situation. dry.gif

That's a really good point. And a swimming pool is much more likely to kill you than a gun too, but I still don't think guns are necessary.

A tiger? In Africa?

your swimming pool can't harm you in your sleep in the hands of:

a buglar
an angry wife
a drunk husband
a stupid kid

or greesy, slippery fingers...

not to mention really big guns sitting on top of a wardrobe waiting for someone to trip on the rug, bump into the wardrobe, and send the 8lbs of steel straight to your head!!!

You can't have a 'hunting accident' when a swimming pool accidentally goes off. And the last army to issue swimming pools to all soldiers didn't do that well in war.

And as I've said before - a swimming pool wasn't designed to kill people.

Studies have shown that a large number of Americans have been killed by particles in the air .. they're called bullets.

Maybe what I was trying to say didn't really get across. Slade said that my first stat about guns-that they're 41 times more likely to kill a member of your family than an intruder-was skewed. The swimming pool remark was just to illustrate that even if you could argue that guns weren't that dangerous, they still weren't necessary.
