Computer died? You mean the power supply stopped working?

Oh, dear... sad.gif

You know, I had major surgery when I was a lad... actually, a couple of times, now that I come to think of it... starting when I was a wee babe... major intestinal surgery and all, you know, early birth complications... good thing I don't remember a thing of it. wink.gif

Seems like everything stopped working. At first we thought it might be the power supply, but then we took it to a computer repair shop and he said that while there is a problem with the power connector to the motherboard, that's not what made it die. *shrug* I don't know.

But anyway, my short visit to the forums is over as I have been borrowing a computer and I can no longer.
I am writing about Jm in my signature because apparently it's an effective method of ignoring him.

I once had to hot flash a bios chip on another motherboard several times due to a faulty power supply. I only noticed it was the power supply the next year when the 12 volt rails started to drop and problems with the drives spinning down.

Surges from the power supply kept on causing the bios chip to damage it's flash program. Using a similar board with the same socket and same chipset I turn it on, remove the bios chip and carefully place the corrupted one in the socket and upload the flash program for the motherboard in question.

I had times when everything bad happened all at once.

When I was small I had my appendix removed as it poked through the skin.

Oh, goodness... that's terrible. sad.gif

I really feel for all the people here who've gone under major surgery. If it scared the sh*t out of me, then surely it must scare the sh*t out of all of you. crying.gif

I don't know, I've had surgery twice (emergency appendectomy at ten, broken wrist at seventeen) and it never really hit me as very scary. Very, very, VERY painful beforehand and a while afterward (only with nifty fun painkillers), but there was more of that little voice in the back of my head saying, "Hey...this is pretty interesting. Pay attention to this - stuff's actually happening!"

Of course, neither of those were really serious, life-threatening things. (Appendix, maybe, but otherwise...) Needing a transplant or a tumor removed or something, now then I'd be scared shitless.

...Or dental surgery. (*shudder*)

It is life threatening if you are a baby and when someone is trying to teach Doctor Spocks methods to your parents. If he was taken seriously and I was ignored I wouldn't be alive here today. The doctors said it was life threatening if it was left to move out any longer.

Hmmm. Well, I was younger, so that may make the difference.

How old were you? I'm pretty sure I freaked out over getting stitches when I was five...actually...I'm kind of cringing right now because I remember WATCHING him sew up my finger.

Oh yeah, there's the deciding freak out factor for me! If I'm completely out of it and unaware, it's fine and dandy and interesting. WATCHING IT HAPPEN...(*shudder*).
