"I don't like sand," is probably the most infamous Anakin line from Episode II.

After he gets his arms and legs cut off in Episode III, look where he lands....

***
(I wasn't sure if it was sand or not -- I never really thought that sand surrounds a molten river...but someone suggested this, and I really like it. At the very least, it is a rough, dirty element that strongly recalls the texture of sand -- and the temperature)

The sand line opened the door for him to pick up the Queen in no tome flat, so it was a good opening, along with the piece of junk necklace he picked up at the Tattooine 99 cent store.

For another bad line, I'd like to nominate Obi Wan's:

"Chancellor Palpatine, Sith Lords are our spec-i-al-ity"

woof!

Um, I didn't intend merely to point out that the line was bad -- rather, I was saying that the line has acquired a new irony now that we know that a mangled and defeated Anakin lands in sand at the edge of the molten river.

Or at least it has a texture like sand.

Thoughts?

If you REALLY want to get technical, then you inadvertently picked up on something that's really a nit pick, since the areas around molten streams of lava are solid and glass like in texture since they'd be splashed up and cooled. The areas around volcanoes are tough to walk around, they used them to train for the moon landings and the astronauts had to have special walkers so as not to keep falling over, since that's what they thought they may encounter on the moon before someone got there and found out differently. The areas that make up a number of beaches in Hawaii have volcanic black sand after many thousands of years of erosion.

I wouldn't give something as creative to Lucas as a plus. I think it was a coincidence and not something he had in his speciallittle notebook all these years.

thinking about that imperial officer from the holiday special... "i hate fish"

they should have a moment, in the SW TV show that is meant to fill in the 20 years between 3&4, where darth vader and imperial oficer Hatefish go to the beach and have a miserable time.

VADER: I hate sand!
Of.HATEFISH: I hate fish!
NEIDA: I don't really like water...
VADER: and yet you went in too soon!!!

It probably was coincidental -- but that doesn't stop it from being a pretty cool connection. I hope someone does a Star Wars music video that plays the "sand quote" just as Anakin's whiny, mangled torso hits the sand.

It gets....everywhere!!!!!!

Now THAT's funny, guys!

And with Queen's "another one bites the dust" as musical background!
