LP:

Miles Davis - Sorcerer (holy shee-at!!)
Frank Zappa - Guitar (at a great price!)
Black Flag - Damaged (a great price too... but all the copycats have made it very difficult to enjoy this album)

CD:

alexisonfire - s/t (when it's good, it's incredible! a few weak tunes, but man o man, the potential for greatness!!)
Jefferson Airplane - Crown of Creation
Tom Waits - Closing Time
John Coltrane - Complete Impulse! Studio Recordings (cost over $100, but it should be worth it; contains much classic material)

Looking forward to the new Beasties album. Other than that not much I'm excited about.

But did you purchase it recently? Nooooooooo...

Going after my paycheck to get some purchases from The Beat Goes On that I ordered. I shall post them here then, as I can't remember what all three of them are.

I just got the new Skinny Puppy album....

hmmm.... a cool album, but not very SP, you know?

it's like when Adrian Edmonson and Rik Mayal did 'guesthouse Paradiso...
or Rowan Atkinson did Blackadder: BAck and Forth, they'd all gone too long without playing the characters that they'd forgotten how too...

Let me know what you think of BSS, I'm planning to get it. "Cause = Time" has been in rotation for days now.

And yes, Chyld, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are excellent. Think White Stripes if Meg was a better drummer, Jack was a girl, and they listened to a lot of Sonic Youth.

I think it's unfair to use the word 'better' in this case. You know as well as i do that what Meg contributes is perfectly suited to their style.
"More accomplished" or "less non-technical" may be more apt.
Sorry to get all 'semantics' on your ass.

Oh, and the BSS album was only ok on a first listen. Had good songs, but it kinda melted together to become one ambiguous statement. I didn't want to say this before i gave it a solid second chance (which i will). Anyway, don't take my word for it. We have somewhat differing opinions on some modern rock, so you may find it immediately great.

Alexisonfire - "Watch Out!" - 3/5
Definitely not as good as their self-titled debut, but still relatively worthwhile for $10. The songs just don't have the same off-the-wall dynamics and aggression that the S/T one had.

Thrush Hermit - "Clayton Park" - 4/5
The best 1970s Canadian arena rock album to come out on an indie label in the 1990s.

Sonic Youth - "Sonic Nurse" - 5/5 (so far)
I haven't listened to all of it yet, but my god...so good. I'd put it in my top 3 SY albums right now, but we'll wait a few weeks and see if I still feel the same after a few listens. Doesn't hold a candle to "Daydream Nation", though. HA HA HA! CANDLE! Ugh...

Soon to be purchased:
HIM - "Love Metal"
The Stills - "Logic Will Break Your Heart"
