Madam Corvax says that Episode III is worse than Episode II; I don't doubt her judgment unduly but then, accidentally on another site this morning, I found this. Is Episode III really worse than this?

ANAKIN: From the moment I met you, all those years ago, a day hasn't gone by when I haven't thought of you. And now that I'm with you again, I'm in agony. The closer I get to you, the worse it gets. The thought of not being with you makes my stomach turn over - my mouth goes dry. I feel dizzy. I can't breathe. I'm haunted by the kiss you should never have given me. My heart is beating, hoping that kiss will not become a scar. You are in my very soul, tormenting me. What can I do? I will do anything you ask...

So is Anakin in love or is he going into anaphylaxis?

Mm. Is a script or transcript of Episode III out yet? I can't wait to read that quality dialogue. The anticipation makes my stomach turn over. (Maybe even literally.)

He sounds like he wants to be her bondage slave from those lines. They're awful. He could've just said, "Hey baby, I love you! Really." and spared us a lot of pain.

I don't go to a movie to see conversations like you and your gf though smile.gif. Besides, the poor acting that came along with those shitty lines is a hard combo to overcome.

I had almost forgotten how bad those lines were... no I hadn't.
That was just me suppressing memories... still, at least Anakin didn't say 'sand gets caught in your butt' as part of his wonderful pick-up line.

""I had almost forgotten how bad those lines were... no I hadn't.""

That's the embodiment of my sense of humour.

Anakin - I don't like sand. It gets everywhere... in your loose clothes... down your loose panties... in your loose vagina...

The romance dialogue in Episode 3 was even worse. It sucked in Episode 2 because it was about politics, was needlessly poetic etc. The whole romance was unrealistic, their love based on nothing. But at least it didn't descend into the realms of "I love you more," "No I love you more," as in that "So love has blinded you?" scene. And that's not even the worst example. When I was watching all these Padme-Anakin scenes, I kept thinking that the way they were constructed was that George Lucas wrote his terrible dialogue, separated all the lines and then randomly put them back together, so that no response to one line made sense in the context of the previous one. God. Why couldn't that big piece of shit Lucas just swallow his pride and let someone else write the damn dialogue. I hope that when he dies, his end is slow and painful.

One of the worst things about it is this - we could have handled ourselves better in that conversation.
It's always grating to see a main character in a film stupider than the audience, but when a bunch of people with enough time on their hands to write alternative scripts for movies that failed their saga can actually spot the perfect smooth winning line for a given stupid cheesy romance scene and the writer doesn't even realise the opportunity was there...
I mean, just one example: Padme: You mean love has blinded you?
Anakin with Audience input: No... it has let me see.
Padme with input from sappy and stupid audience component: aaaaawww.

I have seen Episode III four times in the theatre now and have been entertained every time. When I saw Episode II, I nearly walked out of the theatre the first time I saw it, and I still think it is a wretched movie.

I apologize for being rude, but anybody who thinks Episode III is worse than Episode II is a horrible idiot. That's like saying Episode I is better than Episode V.
