I liked the scene where a silent Jar Jar follows Padme’s funeral procession. I actually got a little teary-eyed. Everybody just looked so sad, and they didn’t clutter it up with poorly conceived dialogue.  sad.gif

I had sort of hoped to see Dartn Vader walking silently behind as well. That would have been then kicker! sick.gif

Yeah, thats what we need. Obi-Wan using the 'f' word to cuss Anakin out in AOTC.

haha yea

but seriously
I do like the idea of making episodes 1,2 & 3 all much darker and more sinister. Clearly episode 3 was darkest, but I think it should have been even darker. It's all too jolly, too many jokes in my opinion, I think the hero-antics and over-the-topness of it all detracts from the more powerful elements of the story. Anakin and Padme's relationship was heavily underexplored in my opinion, there seemed no reason for them to get together, as he was an unrelenting git in episode 2. I think more time should have been spent showing the attraction between them and providing reasons why they were attracted, and also focussing on the strains of the relationship and the changes in Anakin (in a more subtle way).

""but I think it should have been even darker.""

That would make the movie even cooler than it already is. Like more crying... more slicing with lightsabers... more footage of Anakin killing the younglings... more screams.

No, I meant the lighting was too bright, the sets needed to be darker pirate.gif

in ROTS i would have liked to see Anakin more subtly going over the edge. It seemed to me like his behaviour was either heroic, or it was evil, or it was him thinking about it. There wasn't really anything which was a bit evil, or half-heartedly good. It was like, cut a defenseless guy's head off; obviously pretty evil. Kill a bunch of kids; evil. Choke your wife, try to kill obi wan... there was nothing like half way. Maybe call Yoda 'shorty', I dunno.

But mainly, the sections such as Obi Wan riding the back of that monster thing and fighting through all that crap. it was so overdone and cheesy. I'd rather see him infiltrating and silently taking guards out one by one, doing things with proper Jedi Skills.

Ah, well that thing he was riding had a purpose. If you play Star Wars Galaxies the MMORPG you'll know that Sony just bought out a whole new expansion (for the usual $30 etc) for it called "Rage of the Wookies". It's an expansion of 1 whole new planet, no prize for guessing that it's Kashyyyk, and the beast that Obi Wan was riding is the "special gift" your character recieved if you pre-ordered the aforementioned expansion.
See, if you view it from the accountants point of view, it's all much much better!

How do you figure that episode 1 was dark? It was without a doubt the most kid friendly SW to date. ESB was not only darker, but ventured further into adult situations. ROTS, save for the Ewoks, had the most chilling and suspenseful duals. I&II had Gunguns, JarJar, droid dufus enemies, and extended romantic interludes, only 2 delved into the dark with cloning and anakin's revenge scene...

Phantom Menace wasn't at all dark. I guess the most sinister thing in it was Darth Maul, and he barely did or said anything which is a shame. Other than him, it was lalalalala. Anakin and Shmi were meant to be slaves, but they hardly seemed unhappy or anything. I'd have liked to have seen some real harsh treatment of them for a start.

They should have made I&II rated pg-13 like III. Then, they could add more adult situations and the such.

To be fair, there was nothing PG-13 about ROTS. Unless viedo-game violence is PG-13.
