ok i'm retracting my angry statement jm, i'm going to keep myself civil.

I know what you mean about RotJ though, and the more I think about it the more I agree.

I dont see the problem with Leia remembering her adoptive mother as her real mother.

I apologize for flogging a dead horse, but in ROTJ Luke clearly says, "Do you remember your mother? Your real mother?" The fact that he emphasizes the "real" should make it clear that Leia knows she was adopted. Otherwise, she would interrupt Luke and say something like, "What do you mean, my real mother?" That would be anyone's reaction.

Jariten- I didnt really see any, but if you made one i'm sure it's forgiven, I got a little crotchety too.

And yeah, you can keep claiming that she was talking about someone else but there's no reason for it. Imagine me asking you how you knew Barend and then for some reason you went on talking about a guy named Barend you once knew, who is completely out of context and was not introduced on the forums in any way. You COULD do that sure, but it'd be stupid.

And of course this can be said for a lot of Lucas' excuses and plots.

Hey Barend, what do you think of Jariten, the real Jariten I mean.

In my experience he's a fifty give foot tall gorilla and a symbolic leader of all the world's scientologists.

My problem (if I had to pin it down to just one dry.gif ) was that I forgot the dialogue from RotJ i.e "do you remember your real mother" which of course implies that Leia already knew she was adopted.

but hey, the super duper super special edition could fix that! come on George, you can do it! tongue.gif

p.s theres nothing symbolic about my leadership.

Even without the 'real mother' comment, assuming that Leia was talking about her adopted mother would destroy the whole point of that scene. The reason it's so poignant is that we, and Luke, know that the woman she's talking about is Luke's mother as well as hers. If you go by RotS, however, there are only two possibilites: either Leia is simply making it up, or she's talking about her adoptive mother, which would make that scene completely pointless. Yet another good OT moment ruined by Lucas...

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

ROTJ is lame as a whole, Helena. There isn't much that is classic about the Luke and Leia scene on the wooden bridge. Don't you see that? There was no feeling put into it, and there should be no feeling that it gives us... lameness is the reason for my apathy of ROTJ.

Lucas has rendered the L/L "mother" scene in ROTJ completely worthless. Based on RotS, there are two ways to explain that scene now:

1. Leia had two adoptive moms, the first being Bail Organa's wife whom will die while Leia is very young. At some point, Leia will be lied to and told that Organa is her real mom, so when Leia tells Luke about her in ROTJ, she's actually telling him about her first adoptive mom, but she doesn't know that. This also means Luke still knows nothing about his mother.

2. The second possible explanation is that Leia lied to Luke for no reason, which I refuse to believe.

""Lucas has rendered the L/L "mother" scene in ROTJ completely worthless.""

Now, not only is it lame, but also worthless. Lame and worthless.

It would have PARTIALLY or POSSIBLY made sense if Leia was born first and Padme touched Leia. But in the film Padme touches Luke on the face and never makes physical contact with Leia.

My point would be that possibly thru the 'force' Leia would have, those: "...images really, feelings..."

........so he had a chance to make it 'make sense' but in the end...didn't care?
