You raise an interesting point, new guy. Done and done. If you'd care to wander about the forum, there is discussion of other movies, books, and sundry topics such as girlfriends and politics. This particular subject is of interest to a set of members, and your witty barbs will not change that. If you have anything interesting to say on topic, then you'll find the community here to be very welcoming. However please refrain in future from creating posts with no purpose other than to attack the notion of posting here. Those sorts of posts are not welcome.

Ok.. just a quick comment on this one.
I used to think Transformers the movie was the greatest film of all time.
I saw it recently, and thought.. "What the hell was I thinking?!"
Granted I own it and still like parts.. but overall it isn't a very good movie.
Since TPM and to some extent AotC were marketed towards that same group.. I think the same thing might happen.. as they get older, they will realize that in the grand scheme of things Star Wars, the OT was much better.
Now.. I will say this. I didn't absolutly hate TPM and AotC. There were parts i liked, and if they were not Star Wars films, I would have thought them ok. What happend is Lucas tried to re-spin the whole Starwars world... and that just pissed everyone off, and came up sub par compaired to the general goodness that is the OT (untouched by lucas... i.e. the original release in theaters.)

Is that what that smell is?!!
hehe.. all I really have to say is AMEN!
If it aint broke... don't fix it. As a film maker myself, I've had to call things finished that I wasn't 100% happy with.. but once it is out there.. I don't screw with it. I let people enjoy or critizie or whatever... I learn my lessons.. and move on. I don't try to retell the story.. and i certinly don't go back and modify the old one.
Although now that I think about it.. I'm not really surprised. You know THX 1138 was a student film of his... then he remade it. and then he re-edited it and enhanced special effects... so go figure.

the music totally sucks these days, and much of it is very silly, but it had its moment in the sun and we can enjoy it for what it was...
SW, has been denied the right to grow old...
and that sucks so badly...

True.. true.
I still like Transformers the movie.. but.. it isn't the greatest movie in the world.
And I think the point was as the current fans of the PT grow up.. and see more in the way of films.. the too will come to the dar..err.. um.. realize that the PT isn't a good as they think it is.

While I highly agree with you, you and others should check back to see some of your responses to my posts.
"Prick" is not the only one who has done this.
I am certainly opposed to his posts, but then again I have seen such posts from people here in the past, so saying they're not welcome(the kind of posts) is kind of bullshit.
Nevertheless, on with bashing Baron Crapanoida.

I don't think there's any hypocricy in having one sort of reaction to one member for ranting and railing against the entire Chefelf community, and having a different reaction for another doing the same thing. After all, I never suggested you stop posting here since your non-abusive essays had some value. From this guy, we had to date a total of two posts, both of the nature "U r all L00zrs."
No point in trying to argue with that.

As to what might happen to the young PT fans when they grow up, I expect the same thing that happened to the OT fans that grew up, they forget the flaws and get whisked away on the memories. Although Lucas had an impossible act to follow. That sense of granduer was much easier to create for a '77 kid than a '99 one. but just listening to the comments of early teens who watched it (OK i'm not the authority on this, but just from talking to relatives, the net, and the school I was at in japan when both prequel films came out), makes me think that they saw the PT as we saw the OT. Its 'their' SW, and they'll see stuff and appreciate stuff in there on a totally different level to us(im assuming everyone here is over 15). I mean, I know some kids didn't like it, i'm just making predictions. Could be wrong, of course.
"Megatron, is that you?"
"Heres a hint!"
That part still stands up

Although flaming and insulting is not my area of expertise, I've actually been banned for saying things less than HeckHouse on some forums. I might have done those on purpose, but the people on the forums that I've posted them definately deserved it. I've openly declared war on Role Players and RPGs in general -- something you should know...
But I'll just have a word with HeckHouse anyway.
Why's that? Who're you to tell anyone 'no more witty remarks', anyway? I've heard people say things far worse to me and I never complained for some reason.
I agree, that's why I AM picking other movies, and once I'm done with Star Wars after Episode III comes along, I might as well rant, bash and criticize GL and SW for a couple of months more, then carry on. Actually, I am carrying on with my life just fine. Despite my active posting on this forum, it isn't a huge part of my life, but I enjoy the company here, so there.
No offense intended, but you sound like a little kid with a comment like that. GL's behavior in this regard is not only insulting to Star Wars fans, but it is an insult to every hard working and achieving individual around. His aparent sucess, which could have been artibuted to mere chance as Star Wars isn't fundamentally a fantastic movie, and it, too, has a lot of plagerisms in it. From his interview, what George Lucas wanted is simply get into a position of power and be firmly established in his place so that he can do whatever the hell he wants, and no matter what trash he produces, his peers will still do as he asks since he's 'the man' and is a very rich and influencial person. It's NOT as easy as you think for these people to tell him to piss off and go to hell.
What would you think if a famous novelist, movie producer, or corporate CEO decided that now he was so firmly embedded in his field, that he only wants to produce crappy work that his publishers will publish and some hard core fans will read JUST because he wrote it? Or anyone of the fabulously wealthy men and women all over the world who earned their wealth and fame through hard work, dilligance, self-dicipline and self-denial and lots of brains and creativity, decided to use their wealth and fame to act like brats and pathatic kids who do terrible things and get away with it? People would naturally scold them for it, but remember that these people would have EARNED their stuff and not inherited it from their ancestors, and you'll realize just what a slap in the face such actions are.
And BTW, you're funny when you say 'it doesn't physically harm you'. So what you're saying is, continually insulting all thinking people with horrid charades, and
astonishingly arrogent and petty behavior wouldn't offend many people, then I say, why are YOU here?
Since you made a statement that like, why not walk over to your friends, relatives and (if you're working) your fellow employees and boss, and start making insulting statements like that, and once they start to get pissed at you, tell them what you said and see what their reaction will be.
Dear boy, many people here have never watched Episode II and have no intention on watching the third. But the sadly, some of us, such as Chefelf and myself, are indeed planning on watching it and even buying it to watch it at home. This is despite the terribleness of the movies, but out of sheer obligation.
I've been a Star Wars fan ever since I was a tiny little kid, and all sci-fi fantasies I've had had some relation to Star Wars. George here completely ruined my childhood fantasies and the childhood fantasies of MANY other people. I'll make GL pay for that by never watching a movie he directed or produced after Episode III comes out.
What are YOU'RE plans to do after ROTS comes out?

I want to add that I am not attacking this board, or the members in it. I could say alot worse of some of the beavior that I have recieved in my short time here, or your attitudes to GL. But I don't want to start any more arguments.
Seeing as most of you took my words personally, I can see that the majority of this part of the community feels the same way about Lucas, and that's a shame. It would be foolish of me to stay here and "crusade" for him, so I guess I won't be posting much more.

If you went to the trouble to apologise, why not stick around?
