Ok I'm waaaay late on this discussion.. and to be honest, haven't read all the posts.

Lucas is sort of as much as i don't want to say it the father of digital cinema.
NOT CGI
NOT Digital Special Effects.

What he did do.. and this was started durring filming of EP 1, and was the only thing used when shooting EP 2, is...
Used a compleatly filmless process. He used Digital Cameras to shoot the whole thing.. and thus the only time the films touched an analog media was when they were printed to be shown in non-digital theaters.

I believe that is what they were talking about.

that's just google image search stuff...

some DVD screen caps would be better to compare...

either way watch how they moove. gollums hair is more real, his environment reacts to him, and he to it...
his movement and actual animation are far superior as well...

plus being a complicated split personality, the fact that two characters are portrayed simultaniouly in the one digital figure is astounding...

especially in comparison to "hmmmp, hmmmp!"

YODA is totally fucking weak in comparison, not only to gollum, but to the physical muppet that originally portrayed him.

why did aotc yoda suck so much. off subject here, but im sure chefelf can add it into his list of nitpicks.

In the senate scenes right before they chant "vote now" and "jar jar binks, jar jar binks"
they usually do a pan over and pretty much all it shows are weird aliens. Then all of a sudden you hear human voices clear as shit chanting in perfect harmony>?
IT should sound like a bunch of weird noises not some man trying to make his voice sound all echoish. Which brings something else to mind. How the fuck would they even know who jar jar is?

He's not looking directly at Yoda anyway.
