Arm teachers, NRA official suggests
March 25, 2005

PHOENIX - All options should be considered to prevent rampages like the Minnesota school shooting that took 10 lives — including making guns available to teachers, a top National Rifle Association leader said Friday.

“I’m not saying that that means every teacher should have a gun or not, but what I am saying is we need to look at all the options at what will truly protect the students,” the NRA’s first vice president, Sandra S. Froman, told The Associated Press.

Gun-control restrictions would not have prevented Jeff Weise, 16, from killing nine people and himself Monday at Red Lake High School near Bemidji, Minn., said Froman, an attorney expected next month to be elected president of the NRA, which claims 4 million members.

The presence of an unarmed guard at the school failed to stop the siege, she noted.

“No gun law, no policy that you could implement now or that was already implemented, I think, could possibly prevent someone so intent on destruction,” she said. “I think everything’s on the table as far as looking at what we need to do to make our schools safe for our students.”

School shooter followed video game-like ‘script’

Froman said if it is the responsibility of teachers to protect students in a school, “then we as a society, we as a community have to provide a way for the teachers to do that.”

Froman cited the 1997 school shooting incident in Pearl, Miss., where a teacher retrieved a gun from his car when a student opened fire, then held the student at bay until police arrived.

A law prohibiting guns in schools “is not going to stop someone who has evil in their heart and who has the capacity to commit those crimes from doing them,” Froman said.

i don't know how to make this clearer....

-video games
-movies
-music
-availability of firearms

hey, kids... can you guess which one these is the only thing no one has tried to ban?

more guns is the solution...
teachers with fire arms won't go crazy and kill everyone... it's not like they're under any stress or anything...

jackasses...

Great idea! Instead of having a paddle mounted above the principal's desk there can be a shotgun. I thought the NRA were fucked up when I watched Bowling for Columbine and they defended gun rights after school tragedies. But trying to use school shootings as an excuse to sell guns? Fucking insensitive hypocritical non-irony-noticing bastards!

I can tell you what teachers with guns would lead to. A whole lot of dead unpopular kids getting shot for wearing long clothing and glaring at their classmates who routinely torture them.

I think it's a great idea. Now when teachers get mad at students they can ponder blowing them away.

I said stop talking!, POW.

You laugh, but a teacher over here threatened her studients with a starting pistol for talking when she said to stop, I know it wasn't a gun, but the kids didn't know that...

In conclusion, I hope for the day that British people can walk into a supermarket and pick up an assault rifle, or napalm launcher. Which is what most of us think its like to live in America. Walk down the street and theres pepople walking around armed to the teeth, with bullet prove and stab proof vests and thinking "Hehe no-ones gonna get me now". Some walks up behind him with a stanley knife and hey presto this terrorist has enough guns to start World War 3. Oh wait, World War 4, no wait World War 5.

Let's rewrite the history of the world to look cooler:
The American War of Independance- Known in my model as World War 1
The Great War (Known as WW1)- Known in my model as World War 2
The "Let's stop genocide by bombing German Civilians" War (Known as WW2)- Known in my model as World War 3
The "Let's fight a dictor with oil and who isn't killing us over hostile ones with no oil" War (Known as The Iraq War") -Known in my model as World War 4

The Iraq War being WW3 is a recognised Theory just, as the The American War of Independance being WW1.

PS. None of this is my theory its all nicked from people that think that aliens try to take over the world by laying their eyes into toothpaste. I don't believe. This is a load of crap I just posted to stir up some war Supporters, and maybe even some Histories if I'm lucky. Now just wait till you start thinking if I was being Ironic, or being Ironic by making you think I was being Ironic, etc.

Nothing says "reduce danger" like scattering a few dozen guns throughout a school. It's such a great idea, why has no one thought of it until now?

Also, think of how well this will work with student motivation.

Do your homework or get detention?
Do your homework or get shot!

I think test scores are bound to go up*.

Gets even worse if the teacher says something like:
Either everyone of you gets 100% on this test or I'll shoot you all. That would be wrong, yet fun.

I have a bad feeling about this, Qui Gon Jin. Knowing what little shitbags my class were in Years 8-10, arming the teachers would have resulted in several people I know having their heads airated (sp?)...

Swiss cheesing a few troublesome students wouldn't hurt the world too much, might even help. The rest of us would get peace and quiet, classroom sizes would decrease, and the fear of god would make the little brats study hard!

Oh hang on, I'm supposed to be against this stuff.

Hear's a happier idea; Lets switch the standard school uniforms with bombsquad Kevlar! That way no-one gets hurt when the bullied kid goes postal, the arms industry gets the money from the sales, everyones a winner!

Or we could just take the NRA route to extremes and arm everyone, strap explosive collars to their necks and dump them on a desert island. Hello battle royale......

I'm sure everybody already knows that I DON'T LIKE GUNS.

Here's an idea for preventing school shootings: don't make the guns so damn accessible!

As far as the troublesome kids go, I'm actually torn. I wouldn't mind beating the hell out of about ninety-seven percent of them myself (especially the ones my mother always talks about having to deal with every day), but then I remember that I was quite the wretched little hormonal bitch from the time I was twelve to sixteen...I can even think of a couple of times where I think I would have been shot if the teachers had been armed. unsure.gif

Lecter- Brilliant job with the satire!

I think the funniest part of this story is that in their gunpowder-filled brains they actually believe this could happen. They thought lawmakers and parents might actually listen to them.

And come on, I know how deviant high school kids are. First of all most situations that could result in a school shooting aren't planned in any way whatever. That's why there are relatively few school shootings. This chap actually got SO damned pissed that he stayed pissed long enough to go home, shoot the folks, ride to school, shoot everyone. Now that's a lot. But put guns into the schools? Now you have get pissed, grab the teachers gun, kill all!

Making guns available around people who's bodies are swimming with hormones and strong emotions and are constantly given reason to do bodily harm to others is a bad idea. I wasnt really that into the whole bodily harm thing, but I know if this policy had been in place in my school teachers would CONSTANTLY be finding their guns in the toilet, glued to the floor, etc etc. And here's another thing, assholes. Teachers are NOT trained to kill.

Many of them amazingly enough do not own guns. They like children and puppies and making the next generation a better place. I don't suspect to see many teachers wanting to tote around AK47s. I mean, really, can any of you imagine all of your teachers wanting to posess guns? Most teachers are females, and a lot of them are just kindly old folks who enjoy (not in a Michael Jackson way) the company of children. And just how low are they planning to go? Middle School? Elementary? Preschool?

"Sir! Put down the blueberry marker! SIR! If you do not put down the blueberry marker I am legally authorized to fire. Stop sniffing the marker sir. Ok, call in the negotiator, he's demanding a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich and seems to want to talk to someone codenamed "mommy"

In fact, perish the thought, having a deadly weapon next to that apple on their desk might make them, dare I say, uncomfortable? But of course the NRA would never dream of that, because an unarmed American is a terrorist, or something...

If we banned guns, we'd have school stabbings. It's not the fact that people can own firearms, its the stupid team-killing fucktards that misuse them. And if you think about how much psychoemotional trauma these people go through in order for them to take the lives of other human beings, we should be banning the assholes that spend their school careers degrading their classmates.

And Lecter, you're ethnocentrism is callous and misinformed. You forgot about Viet Nam.

You know what? That's actually quite a clever idea. And the more I think about it, the better it actually gets. You can't arm the teachers (well, duh), you can't chuck out the assholes who force people to that sort of thing (you know the assholes would sue, its America, and they're assholes), so protect them when the inevitable happens!

Its perfect!

Except you might want to give the assholes plain old khaki, that'd help... devil.gif

Howabout making class sizes smaller and paying teachers more and identifying bullies who are repeat predators? But no, its much easier to yell at pale assed rock musicians and duke nukem.
