Lion King is a complete rip-off of an anime to the point Disney paid its creators a premium when they made Lion King. So there.

And it has lousy songs. Japanese version is so much better.

Yah, well, at least the tentacles didn't win in Disney's version.

I miss the days when an animation company could take something as consistently dreadful as anime and make it something worthwhile. The Lion King has some great songs, AND Jeremy Irons. Cyzyk, I think you need to be banned from boy-kind before you bring us down anymore. pinch.gif

I'm with Slade, The Lion King was better without big sweat drops or people whose mouths are larger than their faces. It's unfortunate that Disney is now so into movies about talking animals though.

Lion King...anime?

(*quick Wiki search*)

Huh. Thirteen years and I never knew that.

JM: Wait, are you saying there's an animated Disney movie that doesn't have talking or anthropomorphized animals?

snow white maybe? ummm...... possibly that movie with the ummmm... Aristocats? All Dogs Go To Heaven? The Fox and the Hound? The Great Mouse Detective?

Ok point well taken, I withdraw my criticism.

Edit: Disney was involved in POTC but, god damn it, Cotton had a talking parrot. Son of a bitch.

The PotC movies aren't animated anyway. Well, there's animation/CGI/all that stuff in them, but they're not fully animated movies.

Captain Jack wouldn't have been nearly as awesome if they had done that.

All Dogs go to Heaven is a Don Bluth film, and not at all related to Disney, methinks.

I was actually referring to all of them.

However, that's the last animated Disney movie I ever actually liked.

good call, frank.

it seems lately that all animators are turning to these days is CGI. Forgotten it seems, are the days of Don Bluth, Classic Disney, Tex Avery, etc. Nothing compares to hand-drawn animation, imho.

Japanese anime seems to be animation's last hope.
