It's true! You need the not-caring skills, otherwise the girl thinks your desperate. The trouble is trying to convey not-caring instead of shyness, because they hate that too. You need to walk the line between jerk and asshole, or you lose your dominant male status in their eyes (often subconsciously), and they revert to bitching to you about how their other boyfriends suck but they won't leave them.

We're the ones that have to put ourselves out on the line over and over and over and put up with all of this crap while you sit back and wait for us to show up.

And I hate dumb people of both genders.

while we're at it, I renounce the implication that boys are constructed from some foul manner involving snipes, snails and puppy dog tails... and further more would like to quite seriously offer that the very possibility that girls are in any way manufactured using sugar, spice or anything nice is quite preposterous by all accounts.
