I'm not sure if it's accurate or not, but I just read in the Radio Times that the Anakin/Obi-Wan duel in Rots is going to be twelve minutes long. Twelve minutes?! I know it doesn't sound that much at first, but when you consider that the longest screen duel in movie history so far was only half that length, you'll realise quite how long that is. How the hell are they going to string it out for that amount of time?

Maybe Anakin will spend the whole time listing all the ways in which Obi-Wan's managed to piss him off. "You wouldn't let me smoke pot in the house, you wouldn't let me buy designer gear, you made me get that stupid haircut..."

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

I wouldn't be surprised when you consider the length of the complete, uncut version of the pod race.

Weren't all the other duels interspersed with what else was going on?

Any reason to presume this one won't?

Of course, we don't know whether the '12 minutes' refers to twelve minutes of duel footage, or the duel interspersed with other things. But what else would be going on, though? I suppose you might see a few shots of Palapatine watching and cakling evilly...

I'm sure you're right there, Helena. My bet is there will four or five other action scenes concurrent, and three or four of them will be played for comic relief. ALL of them will be 100% pure CGI.

Don't hold your breath, anyone, that anything about this film will be remotely good. Don't see it; don't see it; don't see it.

However, don't see it.

Nevertheless, don't see it.

And while you're at it, don't see it for me too.

I hypothesize that at least one of these interlaced scenes will be a musical performed by wookiees. For more on this hypothesis please tune in to Lance & Eskimo this coming Monday. rolleyes.gif

I, for one, am looking forward to seeing it. Then again, i did not realize I hated the other 2 films until a week or so after I saw them.

Talk about a 12 minute uncut duel has been talked about for over a year, encouraged by the lightsaber fight choreographer Nick Gillard.

Think about it. Twelve minutes of anything on film is a huge amount of time. Then think of sword slashing unedited. Boring. It's nothing but wishful thinking. I call it Matrix syndrome.

Nothing wrong with Gillard saying that he's seen a 12 minutes long clip of the footage he created and was filmed. No editor in their right mind is going to show 12 minutes straight of a sword fight in a multi-million dollar film of this nature. Twelve minutes total, interspersed with other scenes, possibly.

There will be a lot of talking in this duel, not just slashing and parrying for 12 straight mins. Trust me you will be blown away by how epic this will be.I've seen a lot of pics of this and there is more emotion in this one than all the other duels combined. It will be gritty and they actually fight with other things besides lightsabers at times.

12 minutes? trust me folks... it's a good thing. the more time soaked up that isn't a talk scene the better... the action this film is promising is the only thing it has going for it... believe me when i tell you... you want as much as possible.

i would rather this than hear annie and padme talk for another second...

and watching people drive for 3/4 of a film like with the podrace is another thing all together...

I knew it was going to be a terrible movie ever since I saw AOTC. But alas, I'm going to have to watch it... not because I like the movie, but because I'm a fan by obligation. I'm like that guy who's sitting by a dying friend or relative, trying to comfort their fears and pains as they live out their last few days of their life. Not only do I plan on actually going to the movies and watching it, but I'll be getting the movie on DVD and then have one big movie watching marathon and watch the entire saga in one go... then shelve them and never watch them again.

I've said that a million times already, though. I don't know if anyone actually cares about all that.

Chef, can you tell me how the 'extended' pod race was like? I really want to know, thanks.
