i would like to say...

what is the dealio with this shot?

these guys just got off the shuttle onto a dry desert planet...
why are they covered in shit? (or mud)

i have boycotted and refused to watch these films... but honestly.
what is that shot about?

in the originals, crew were smart enough to put schmutz on stuff to look like it had been out there for a while... but fresh mud all over their uniforms? in a desert...

it's so sad, the way lucas tries to capture the creativity of peoples whos work he has tried so hard to erase.

there was a funny line under that photo in the article, I believe.
And I did enjoy the piece and laugh for a couple of minutes.

Thanks, Ekm. Got a link for the other write-ups?

Actually, I never posted the following articles, because the first part got little to no response in our forum. No-one seemed to care, and I couldn't justify writing the next two parts (though it broke my heart not to do so).

Thanks for reading! Much appreciated! You guys and gals have a good thing going over here. smile.gif

That was excellent - funny and very informative. I'd love to see parts two and three!

Oh, and welcome to the forum. Hope you stick around. smile.gif

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

It warms my little shrivelled piece of a blood pump to see that somebody shares my view on "dewbacks" - that they are just visual mastrubating from Lucas. Completely unnecessary. Illogical. Gratuitous.

Nice read, ekm, thanks

I thought of you, MC, when I read ekm's bit on dewbacks. I knew that somewhere you were smiling with satisfaction. smile.gif

You bet I was biggrin.gif .

But apart from dewbacks, ekm does make some other valid points about Special Edition. I hope he will get round to writing part two and three

Yeah, that is great stuff. I can't understand how you didn't create a following? Heck, Chef's getting a government.

George Lucas on the "mud" explaination:

"The scene with the troopers having dirt on their armor has been totally misinterpreted by the fans. It isn't dirt or mud, its special imperial suit-morphing camoflage. You see when they land on a planet their suits naturally adapt to the colors of the environment. The "dirt" is merely digital camoflage which the suits are producing via liquid crystal linings which sense colors and surroundings via special sensors on their helmets. Their armor is still white to protect them from the harmful rays of the Twin Suns."
"Anyone who has the power to make you believe absurdities also has the power to make you commit atrocities."
~ Voltaire (1694-1778)

That explanation would make perfect sense. All the money used to develop that camoflage and they didn't have the budget left to make the suits resistent to laser fire.

That is an excellent review. We just need to keep up the fight.

I keep wondering, is there ANY chance EVER that the OT will show up on DVD. I know I'm getting it by a "different means" (but I tend to have a guilty conscience), but I just want Lucas to "GET THE MESSAGE!"

How likely? Probably not likely. This is why I wish Episode III would fail, the DVD's to fail (though, that doesn't look like that's happening), and anything else of Lucas' to fail. Is it so wrong of me to wish such ill on a man I don't even know?
