I mean really we all feel like Civ is our daddy... don't we????

Well, I for one don't feel like that... For reasons which I hope are obvious to you all... blush.gif

But I finally got to read the next installment of nitpicks. Thanks, Cheflef, it's been a great read.
However I am actually of two minds regarding the Ewok issue. I think Chefelf has a point that it is nice to show an insignificant and weak race getting the better of imperial troops. But the execution... cuddly teddy bears... no. I agree with Helena here.

Well yes, I apologise on that account. I should have included that particular disclaimer.

On another note Madam, you are needed in the Debate Club also. Barend and I are trying to set up a dictatorship and we'd like you to be the third in the Triumvirate. Well, I haven't asked Barend yet, but he'll do as his told if you agree.

While we're talking about ROTJ, I'd to go back to the old topic of "Should Han Solo have died" for a moment. I believe that George Lucas refused to kill Han for political reasons - the death of our favorite scoundrel would have hurt the film's box office returns (and possibly have overshadowed the Luke Skywalker/Darth Vader scenario).

What say you all?

Whatever the reasons, this is actually one of the few issues on which I thoroughly agree with Lucas. A downbeat ending is fine for some types of film, but I really don't think it would have suited Star Wars at all. It's too bad he also had to screw up Han's character, though.

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

And to think that Han Solo was based on his Lucas's old friend Francis Ford Coppola...

angry.gif "The changes to the Sarlacc have always confused me. The Sarlacc pit seemed to work fine when it was just a central spiky pit with some tentacles. The inclusion of a centralized carnivorous worm seems like an odd choice."

The Sarlaac centralized worm is none other than the man eating plant in Little Shop Of Horrors! It's just like they cut and pasted the thing. Why oh why did they not even, if choosing to use something new, make it actually new.

You know, I looked at some early concept art or the Sarlacc and the new mouth, despite being a carbon copy of the Audrey II from LSOH does match the old art.

Not that I think the change was necessary, but this is one instance where Lucas really does seem to have made the movie "closer to [his] original vision."

You can't really blame HC. He signed a contract. It's not like he could say "No, I will not do it, I don't agree with your artistic vision." He has to do it. If he'd refused there would be someone else playing Anakin in Episode III.

You say that like its a bad thing.
It seems like everyone is over the nitpicking. Too bad.

Actually, you're wrong about the whole Max Rebo death thing. I know you may not like them or anything, but actually, only the original band (Max, Sy, and Droopy) went out on the sail barge. Taking advantage of the battle over the Great Pit of Carkoon, Sy and Droopy, who didn't want to sign the contract with Jabba who would pay in food (Sy and Droopy's species, p'alowik and kitonak, rarely ate, maybe only once a month) escaped, suggesting Max came with them. Max disagreed, but in an accident was pushed off the sail barge. Afterwards, the sail barge exploded and the band split up. Lots of people only think it is fanboy hocus-pocus, but whether you believe it or not, it's true. After all, being just a movie, George can decide what happens whether it's logical or not.

I'm sure he wanted to do it.

According to David Prowse's biography on Wikipedia, Prowse wanted to reprise his role as Darth Vader at the end of ROTS. Christensen wanted a costume built for him. Lucas gave it to Christensen.
