Considering this nonsense about Midichlorians being in the blood would a vampire who just ate a Jedi be able to use the force? This is possibly the dorkiest and most inane topic ever but with many moons to go before ROTS we gotta fill in the space somehow...

Forget vampires, what about a blood transfusion? Are Jedi allowed to donate blood? If someone murdered a Jedi, drained their blood and injected it into themselves, would they then be able to use the Force (and would it last)? The imagination boggles.

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

Well, no. You've got to train to become a Jedi, I mean to actually be able to listen to the Force takes time and training (according to Qui Gon).

Would they be capable of using it, is what I meant. Yes, they would need training, but it can't be all that difficult if Luke can learn the basics in just a few days.

Luke could probabley learn the basics so fast because he got somehwere around 20 000 mido's from his father.I can just see Lucas sitting down right now and writing episode 3.5 on how boba fett injects himself with jedi blood after killing them and becoming super powerful. sad.gif

And Jedi blood is used to power General Grieveus' batteries, that would make sense.
Another General. And he's in the group photo (sigh. it's a prop.)

Sssooo if Anikan loses half of his crude matter, er, midichlorians in the lava, that would mean he and Luke would have equal midichlorians, right? Surely there's a betting line somewhere on how they're all ranked on this day.

Do Sith have midichlorians? Would little Annie have been a good student for them or do they spring up from holes in the ground? Well, there's a millenia of history and two movies already so what do I know? (I Guess I know I need to play KOTOR...)

I'd warrant you need to train to be a jedi. Ben sent Luke off to school so to speak, so there's reason enough. But then again, in ID4 Randy Quaid wasn't in the air force... sleep.gif

Usinf the templates of Luke, who could do nothing before Obi Wan got hold of him, and Anakin, who was the same (albeit he had "quick reflexes"), then no you wouldn't be capable of using it.

Luke: I want to learn the ways of the force and become a jedi like my father.
Ben (a little later:) that's good. You have take your first step into a large world.
Ben's voice (later yet:) Use the force, Luke.
Let go, Luke.
Luke, trust me.
Remember, the Force will be with you, always.

Time and training? all that happened in one movie. There was a lot of other stuff too, and it was all entertaining and understood.
Little Annie's antics in orbit had nothing to do with listening to the force.

Is it possible to be a powerful jedi and be a lousy pilot, or are the jedi (and sith) all fighter jocks? Never seen Sidious fly. is that what makes him different?

we didn't dislike Luke for one. We were shown almost all of his development. In JEDI I felt a little cheated that I didn't get to see his building the light saber. In the PT I've groan crying.gif to appreciate the parts that we HAVEN'T seen. Those are the only portion which offers promise.

back to the vampire thing:

What do Vampires have in common with the PT?

There's more, too. Remember the cave scene in ESB? Luke uses the Force to retrieve his lightsaber and cut himself free from the ice. And another fact, too, is in the scene when he talks to Yoda. When Yoda was doubting that Luke was ready to be trained, Luke protests to Yoda's doubts by saying, "but I've learned so much... I won't fail you. I'm not afraid."

So how did Luke manage to 'learn so much' in an extremely short period of time from ANH to ESB? (or is it a short while? How long exactly was the time span?).

i think the real question is (it PT material is in play), that if a vampire bit a jedi, would that jedi notice or sense it?

OT jedi, you bet. they can feel pain, why not?

PT jedi: depends how clouded their vision is at the time. ermm.gif

Obi Wan: "Master Yoda, there seems to be a lot of blood pouring down your arm and a pale gentleman is gnawing on it."

Yoda: "Hmmmm a mystery this is. Ask the younglings we must.

Younglings: "If someone's gnawing on your arm then maybe they're a vampire?"

Yoda: "Hmmmm truly remarkable the mind of a child is. Meditate on this I will."

Mace: "Only a Jedi could gnaw on your arm like that..."

Count Dookula: -Said as he gnaws away- "Hey, like I always say, if it feels good, do it!"

Jinn says Midis "continually speak to us."

Then, they are integral to hearing "the will of the Force."

Then "you'll hear them speaking to you."

There is no mention, however, of the individual's manifestation of Force power...

...no mention of any physical prowess associated with those midi-chlorians...

...just - and I repeat, just - the individual's ability to "hear" the will of the Force.

Could it be that we have all jumped to the conclusion that midis = physical Force power?

Perhaps "hearing the will of the Force" is one thing, but manifesting it is quite another?

Note that Lucas was quick to differentiate between "The Force" and "the perception of the Force" in this quote:

"...Not in a sort of spiritual, metaphysical part of the Force, but the more practical, biological, physical part of the Force, or how we come to know the Force...

He kind of seems to correct himself there, clarifying the difference between demonstration of the Force... and perception of the Force.

The word "or," to me, suggests a correction - "Or, should I say, how we come to know the Force"; "Or, rather, how we come to know the Force."

Is there any real evidence out there to suggest that
"average # of midi's"
maintains a fixed, quantifiable ratio to
"Jedi's physical capability"?

I don't see it.
