Yeah, I remember Entertainment Tonight spotlighting that in 1998.
When Titanic surpassed Star Wars (a new hope for some) as the top grossing film of all-time it was a blow to Lucas, who held the title for twenty years.
Having your in-house artist draw up something to put the company in a good light is always a good move.

Quick Note:
'Star Wars' ($323 mil) was actually only the #1 box office performer for five years, until "E.T." came out in 1982, which made $399 million.
It was only the release of the 'Special Edition' in 1997 that 'Star Wars' passed E.T. I think it was so big in 1997 only because it was kind of hip and cool, not because people wanted to see the movie. (Note how the opening weekend for each successive 'Special Edition' PLUMMETED.)
So basically 'Star Wars' was only #1 for six total years.

I stand corrected.
I guess in my memory, the thought of SW being on top a.ll that time was REINFORCED by the lucasfilm cartoon of SW "giving up the ship," when in actuality the SW gang had been on top less than a year.

ACtually I think in terms of numbers more people saw ANH cause ticket prices have gone up in the last 25 yrs.

Do you think that was why the prequels were so poor? lucas was more motivated than ever to turn star wars into the biggest commercial success of all time.
