Baby, Mom On Walk Survive Being Hit By Motorcycle

Crash Kills Man Test-Driving Bike Without Helmet

POSTED: 5:00 pm EST December 1, 2004
UPDATED: 5:55 pm EST December 1, 2004

A 5-week-old Central Florida baby and his mother are recovering Wednesday after being hit by an out-of-control motorcycle as they walked on the side of a street, according to Local 6 News.

Melbourne police said David Honea, 25, was riding west on Sunset Boulevard in Melbourne when his motorcycle struck Colleen Sanders as she walked with her son, Michael, in a stroller on Tuesday evening.

The bike knocked and dragged Sanders and then rammed the stroller. Witnessed said the stroller and baby flipped and were thrown into some nearby bushes.

"It was boom, boom, boom and into the bush," witness Karen Lucas said. "It was not really upside down but it was at an angle enough where you could see the baby in the straps, thank God, just hanging there."

Honea, who was test-driving the Suzuki motorcycle without a helmet, died at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne after the crash.

I don't know why they were after the baby, but if the mob wants a man dead, they gets him dead. It's only a matter of time.

I thought we as a species had already come up with the following formula

No helmet + Crash = Dead Idiot

We're not a clever bunch of well-evolved simians, are we?

I think we're still struggling with Drink+Drive=Bloody Idiot, which was an actual add slogan we had going over here a few years back.

The problem is that we don't naturally select the intelligent people out, so the gene pool gets polluted with idiots. Thankfully, they kill themselves off frequently, but it's a damned shame when they take out the innocent. But that's rather odd that the mother and child survived but the driver of the motorcycle didn't... The two were hit by a moving motorcycle, neither had a helmet on either...

Jerry Seinfeld's bit on helmets sums it all up. The best comedians are those who make you laugh AND think.

Me: (listening to Seinfeld CD) Ha! Ha! Ha! (After a moment) Hmmmmmmm. (Another moment) Ah HA!

I'm going to have to disagree with you there, Sime.

A lot of times when I try to make people laugh, they have to think about what I'm saying first in order for them to realize it's a joke, and that doesn't go over well with many people.

No, I can see why what he's saying is supposed to be funny. It just isn't.

The portion of what I said after the page break was entirely unrelated to the portion on Seinfeld. I apologize for my lack of clarity.
