We all know that the jedi are not allowed to love. And therefore are not allowed to have sex.

The above statement has brought another contradiction in the story to my attention.

If the Force is just some thing in your blood, then wouldn't it stand to reason that breeding would pass down that gene. And as far as the jedi council is concerned, shouldn't that be a good thing?

George yet again has painted himself further into the corner of doom.

I dunno if this is a good reason, if not I wanna hear why.

And even if jedi were not allowed to marry but allowed to have sex, is that any better?

So now George is an advocate for sex outside of marriage?

"as a jedi you can not love, but feel free to engage in gratuitous sex"

George has gone from idiot, to fornicating idiot. What a message for the children.
Yet on the other hand he lifts the immacualate conception of Christ and puts it into his movies.
George not only contradictes his own work, but is also bringing in two ideologies that are also contradictory of eachother

This just keeps getting better and better.

So either way george is hooped to try explain this.

Well I don't think there is any explanation given. Why can't a Jedi love? No reasons are given.

It is a good point that the Jedi would be forced to die out if they remained celibate. Of course this whole nonsense about the midi-chlorians is total crap anyway.

The Jedi are apparently in the business of just waiting around for some people with a lot of midi-chlorians to be born. Then, as soon as they are they scoop them up, train them and don't allow them to reproduce. Then they scour the galaxy for more talent after successfully killing off another source of midi-chlorian production.

It seems more like the Jedi are in teh business of NOT making more Jedi than training new ones.

George: Say, fellas. I just read that in the Middle Ages, the monks weren't allowed to marry. They were supposed to devote their entire lives to God. Wouldn't it be neat if the Jedi were supposed to devote their entire lives to the Force? I think that could make Aniking and Amidala'a love kinda tragic, and that might be hwta sends him to the Dark Side.

Flunky: Jesus, George, don't you think that's a bit much? Like, are Jedi supposed to be single-minded and obsessive? I don't remember Alec Guinness giving even the vaguest hint that his hero was anything but a perfectly well-adjusted old man. And besides, wouldn't it be more classic for Anikin to be seduced by the power of the dark side? Like say he uses his hatred to kill his enemies, against Ben's advice, and is drawn away from Ben once he feels he's more powerful, like Ben's a fool? And this Amidala thing, couldn't that be a footnote? Everyone knows they're going to hook up; do we have to make it so goddamned central? I think that''d be a little boring, personally.

George: You're fired. How aboout you other guys? What do you think?

Yes-Men: Sounds great! We can have a book on Jedi religion available for Christmas! Let's get to work on the dress for Amidala's "love scene!" I've made drawings for 37 new alien races! Kenner's all set with the toy marketing! And I have this great idea for a video game tie-in to this whole unmarried Jedi thing!

George: Don't bother me with the details; I have some storyboards to approve.
"I had a lot of different ideas. At one point, Luke, Leia and Ben were all going to be little people, and we did screen tests to see if we could do that." -George Lucas, in STAR WARS: the Annotated Screenplays (p197).

I debated this in a starwars forum for 3 days straight. The starwars apolegists defend George to the bone. I was bombarded with hate comments! George divided the fans in a really big way.

obi one says in the original trilogy that Anikan was seduced by the Dark Side not a whining bitch that went bad because he was impatiant and incabable of foresight and overcome with hormones!!! Anikan Goes sour too early, there should have been no signs in EP2 of him turning evil, yes palpatine should have been giving the hard word but the way anikan acts in EP2 you really begin wonder if he needed too. there really is no 'good' in anikan to start with... he's a litlle pussy who wants instant gratification from his trainig and, bloody hell, no wonder Obi-Wan hid the truth from Luke! Iwouldn't want to know.

as for the no boom-boom for jedis, WTF?
as if bringing modern politics (american democracy) wasn't bad enough, now modern religion as well (catholic monks)

EP 1 and 2 went wrong were Matrix 2 and 3 went wrong, aiming for a more mainstream and stupid audience who are wowed by pretty colors and no story or level of intregue!

Civ. #2, SPOT ON!
