Barend- Maybe we're just old. Maybe these-a-days girls don't go for charm or for intelligence or for maturity or a sense of fun. Maybe they like guys who are going to menace and potentially kill them or take over the world whilst staring at their breasts. The next woman I see whom I consider attractive I shall say this to while gawking at her melons:
"I'm considering organizing a coup and crushing all resistance under my jackboot. I'll kill your family if you don't make hot sultry love to me. Don't believe me? I've done it before, I slaughtered whole villages."
I bet this is how Hitler got Eva Braun and how Nixon got whoever his wife was!

although i thought the scenes centered around the love story were largely awful, there was one scene i liked. i really liked the waterfall scene, where they were talking about Padmes old boyfriend. it seemed all cute and innocent, then suddenly Anakin gives the outline for a society under a dictatorship, Padme looks shocked, and theres this subtle, darker edge to the score. Palpatines teaching comes through a bit, he realises hes pushed her too far, so he pretends it was a joke. anyway, that really through me when i saw it. also the look she gives him at the end is great.

Ah so thats what that scene was about. I never just went off and guessed that it was Palpatine who told him that, I just thought Anakin was naturally a complete asshole. Maybe through the powers of filling in all that Lucas didnt bother to point out we can make the prequels make sense.
When Shmi disappeared it was cuz Palpatine told the sand people to take her.
When Anakin talks about how he loves dictatorships it's because Palpatine told him to
Where did this relationship come from anyhow they never spoke but once! Anakin never had time to visit his own mother but Obi Wan let him go hang out alone with creepy old men all the time? This should have been explained on screen and not left to the audience to make up.

I don't know about you but I have never advocated that homosexuals, for any reason, be cut out of their mother's womb and thrown into a bin.
