My first bad nightmare was in 2nd grade. It was about robots hunting me in a parking lot. scary stuff. (though a tot in human form, I'm sure Barend was behind it.)

1: Completely nonsensical, which have me reaching for my copy of Zolar's Encyclopedia and Dictionary of Dreams the moment I wake up.
2: Fandom dreams, where the dreams are centered on one of my favorite shows, games, or movies (an example of each would be Freddy Dreams, Monkey Island dreams, and even just recently I had a Blackadder dream.) that end up playing out like subconscious fanfictions.
3: Dreams that are complete right down the very last detail...except for the ending, which I can never ever reach. If I could remember all of these, I could have about two or three dozen full-length novels typed up at this point. THAT'S how perfect they are.

That's so funny, isn't it? I've had some bad dreams too and it's funny how long I put up with these things before I realised "Hang on, this is a dream. I don't have to take this crap."
I find that in nightmares, my real-life physical capacities are always limited. For example, in bad dreams, I can't run at all... sometimes I can barely move.
But it's okay. I just remember "Hey, this is bullshit. I don't have to put up with it." and I wake myself up. Then I go back to sleep and try to think of something nice and soothing for the mind, like.... um, no I shouldn't go there.

The only other dreams I can recall offhand are usually about sex with whatever girl takes my fancy at the time...

That was a bit of a shock when I realised that.... I still remember being a new cop not too long ago.

1. sci-fi/fantasy/adventure
2. porn
3. horror
4. thriller/suspense
5. arthouse
6. arthouse/horror/porn
7. sci-fi/porn
8. pornhouse/artthriller
etc.
the funnything about my nightmares is that I was no longer scared of what was happening... so my subconcious upped the stakes.
I have planty of dreams about killers chasing after me, but after a while i started turning around and smaking them down (as i got older and more experienced in combat)
being left in the car as a child and the handbrake fails, sending me down a hill is another reacuring nightmare of progression... at first all i could see was the telegraph poles going past, then i got a little older and would grab the wheel, then a bit more older my only concearn was to obey the traffic rules, the as i got older the fact that i didn't have a licence was the only thing left...
another testament to the mind using dreams to help you overcome your fear of the unknown. It's just so systematic.
1. have fear of subject matter
2. run a subconcious simulation of the senario to test own ability to overcome te problem.
3. gather data while concious.
4. re run senario to aply new information and knowlege
5. repeat cycle untill fear is conquored.
however in the realm of the unrealistic, the mind tries to add challenges to test you further. eg. I'm a big guy, not trying to sound tough but i can take care of myself, most people would not beat me in a fight. and as a result it is no longer sufficient for my dreams to scare me, by sending a knife weilding maniac. I will defeat him. they have all tried men with axes, guns (fire arm dreams: i usally have to disarm someone to get a fair go), etc. so I found my mind chose an uncomfortable way to scare me, but i must say i'm quite impressed at the way my subconcious flanked me.
make me the bad guy....
I have had dreams where i was the "psycho" and it's a really disturbing thing, because your doing these terrible things, but in the back of your mind your really concearned about wheather or not anyone is going to step in and save these people... as a natural "good-guy" I believe in defending the inncocent, so when my dreams go leftfield and throw a spanner in the works... it's quite a challenge. It's like a new way of dealing with evil.
hmmm... perhaps that's why so many serial killers leave clues. to get themselves caught, who knows... but i though it was interesting.
i hope you don't think i'm insane or anything.

on another note, i had a dream last night where i was watching Ghostbusters 2, where the ghostbusters were fighting Vigo. expect that this time, the hitherto unseen Ghostbusters Submarine put in an appearance at the end. It had the ghostbusters logo on the side and everything.

Remember Emu's face, people; one day it's going to be on the news alongside a headline about blowing some landmark to smithereens, and then we can all sigh and say, "She was such a normal person".....
....We'd be lying though.
