Firstly, I guess I'm a little happier not even Looking in the News desk forum for a little while now. I read about not stirring up anger with anger, and you know what? that's good advice. (besides, most of you know where I stand, and I don't find it important to remind you at every turn. A waste of time and emotion I do not miss.) But it's a great forum, no doubt. and now for the good news:

I got my boxset of (1995) SW videos today! (ebay, $13 inc./shipping)
Yes! And for all the ages, I can watch the death star explode without that damned hula hoop. tongue.gif

"The appeal of Star Wars has gone beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I am pleased that for the final video release of Star Wars in its original version, we can present it with the best sound and picture quality yet available, thanks to thx digital mastering.

A group of people struggle to hold the enraged Barend back as George Lucas' bodyguards help him back away to the safety of his limousine. Then suddenly the group holding Barend back wonder "Why the hell are we stopping him for?" and let go. The whole crowd is filled with fervour and descends upon George Lucas to wreak their vengeance upon him. But they were too late. Barend got there first.

Watching from a nearby balcony, Just Your Average Movie Goer helps himself to another handful of popcorn. It had been a short movie, yes. But he had enjoyed it immensely.

I know that you believe you understood what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you read is not what I meant.

I have the 'final' release of the Original Star Wars Episodes V and VI, but not 4 (I have a 'copied' version which appears to be lost at the moment). Frankly, I didn't see all that much wrong in the special editions, as most of you seem to.

Watched Empire last night, and chuckled a few times ("Bang" on the console, the falcon comes to life again; Yoda's antics rummaging through Luke's camp) and smiled smugly (Luke chooses to drop from the cantilever at Bespin and DOESN'T scream.)

And Yoda was Likeable. I look forward to viewing Jedi and hearing the Yub-Yub song (and NOT that Jabba's palace cabaret number.) The ewok's kitchy ditty, Luke's noble jump and Han shooting first are reason enough for me to cling to the old ways. smile.gif

Han shooting first, and the rancor scene ( when luke runs through its legs) not being cleaned up...

is enough to beat someone up over!

IN FACT!!!

THOSE SPECIAL EDITIONS ARE SOOOO FUCKING SAD!!!

BECAUSE FILMS DATE, IT'S PART OF THE WONDER OF IT ALL...

AND THE ADITIONAL FOOTAGE IS LIKE A TOUPEE OVER A HEAD WITH ONLY A SLIGHT RECEEDING HAIR LINE!!!!

IN FACT THESE FILMS ARE MELANIE GRIFFITH!!! A WOMAN WHO WAS BEAUTIFUL AND SEXY, BUT SO AFRAID OF AGING THAT SHE KEPT GETTING PLASTIC SURGERY UNTIL SHE LOOKED LIKE A FREAK!!!
WHAT'S WITH THAT???

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU REFUSE TO AGE GRACEFULLY!!!

I知 really enjoying seeing these videos, this last time.

The Last time-ever videos each begin with an interview segment between Leonard Maltin and George Lucas. The Jedi portion of the interview has Lucas answer:

的f I do direct again, it will be the first one to set the stage and, uh,
you know, how everything works for the directors of tomorrow.

(And he kind of had a twinkle in his eye as he mentioned how Jabba was designed to be Repulsive...)

So I felt a little bitter again. And starting to get cynical with the demise of star wars films, I couldn稚 just watch, but felt compelled to notate every little objectionable detail. And considering the bulk of which exists in Jedi, there痴 not much time to sit back. (Which all the more promises what a whirlwind Ep. 3 will be) I知 going to try to restrain myself at this point so I can get through this movie tonight.

But rather than give in to the dark side, I値l try to keep a cheery note in a new post. I hope you値l want to chime in with Your optimism. wink.gif

I have those same tapes, and I can't sit through and watch and listen to the fat, stupid, plaid-coated mother#$^$ blithely piss away all that has made him sucessful! I can't stand his smugness, his self-importance, his demeanor, his....(I'm into lists today, I guess)... HIMNESS!!

Geez, I use to admire that man. I use to think he was greater than all directors/producers put together and now I know he's just a shell of a man. It disappointments me and depresses me that for someone who had it all, who could've blown us away with the prequels, that he comes across now as only less than mediocre.

I truly hope his "small, commercial films" which he hopes to make in the future crumble, fail and highlight him as the has-been & hack that he has become.

I think there are a large number of people out there who like the prequels out of refusal to let themselves be hurt by the realization of it all.

a majortiy of the world is stupid... and sometimes I think it's out of choice. a sense of self presevation...
