I'm glad I'm not your friend so I didn't have to listen to you drone on about how you were too much of a fanboy to just sit there and watch Yoda kick some ass.

next morning miss A says: "i heard you last night"
(we all laugh)
Annie says: "i was dreaming about my mother"
(the whole cinema went "eeeiw")
Holy Expletive, Batman!
I hadn't heard that one before! Damn, that should be on the list! Almost worth seeing the movie, just so I can refer to it directly. I wil not, however, see the movie.
At a Britney Spears concert in my home town, the stage was flanked by two gigantic inflatable plastic cylinders. They inflated and grew erect during the finale, and as the song and dance number came to an end, a sweaty, scanty-clad Britney (and an audience of confused 12-year-old girls and their embarrassed mothers) were covered in a shower of white confetti that exploded from the tops of these fully-inflated tubes.
That has nothing to do with STAR WARS, but I wish I'd been there so I could definitely say it happened. I read that in a newspaper review, but it's just too much. It couldn't really be true, could it?
Anyway, still laughing about the wet dream. And I thought Shmi's dying within seconds of discovery (as though, like in a bad video game, it was the discovery that killed her) was the lamest element in that storyline.

I walked out at the Yoda scene because the litany of errors and general poor quality of the film had brought me to the verge. Watching Yoda do what he dis was just the straw that broke the camels back. As for being your friend, that is unlikely to ever happen anyway, as you would have been the moron crowing about how great the movie was etc. while I was leaving, absolutely annoyed and insulted by having to watch this trash. And no, it has nothing to do with being a Star Wars fan, people who had never seen Star wars hated the movie, purely for the rubbish that it was, i.e. badly scripted, incoherent, a mish mash of bad ideas and cliched plot devices, culminating in a big pile of inexplicable doggie poo....

the thing about the death star that's always bothered me is the gravity's direction. In SW ANH I think there's this split screen up and down shot of stormtroopers (in the core, perhaps?), but when the falcon lands in the docking bay, the people aren't standing like they would on the surface of the sphere (feet to the middle of the DS) What about the gunners in the towers shooting at x-wings: do THEY stand feet to the center?
I know this is all moot as that film was wonderful and certainly pleased more than it pissed.

it's a bit much to swallow, but i can let it go, especially if i can ignore the fact that there are no particles in space to refract a laser beam therefore you would not see one coming. secondly there's no way you could actually manauvre vehicles as small as x-wings or tie fighters the way they do in the movies. they're not F-15s using lift vs wind velocity.
that's why i call the original Star Wars movies 'fantasy' and not 'sci-fi'
and i just let it all go, for something we call ARTISTIC LISCENCE
but seeing as George Lucas has recently displayed no artistic integrity, sense, or flare... he should have his artistic liscence REVOKED!!!
go back to art traffic school GL!

When I find something positive to say...
Heh.
I just think you have to re-evaluate what "sticks in your Craw" if a little computer generated goon jumping around like a ninny has the ability to make you leave a theater which you payed probably a good 8.50 to see.

About the orignal topic: I have a couple view points. When the Gungan Boss said "core" he may have or may have not actually meant the center of the planet. What if the core was a couple hundred miles off the center. The term could have been used loosely.
I found the core scene to be way too dramatic. Jar Jar's Incessant screaming made me want to leave the thearter. It was a little too much. I think the scene could have just been obi wan and Qui Gonn exchanging dialogue with some background not-in-your-face aquatic life teaming about. Maybe the dialogue would have helped pace the movie?, I dunno.
The thing I truely loved about the original trilogy was the look and feel of the surrounding enviroments. The whole world had this archaic feel. It made the Empire seem more real, and the rebel's cause seem more justified. The universe was in turmoil and needed a saviour.
The last two moives felt like watching a cartoon. Even the "mean" streets of Corrcusant looked like money. Ok ok the universe was better back then, but it still didn't need that primary color gloss on everything. Jango Fett in Millenium Silver? ha. The whole scene with the molten lava and conveyor belts could have been much more rustic and feirce looking. It looked to nice in there.

Yoda uses a cane. He even limps. How is it that he battled "Count" Dooku with such areobic skill. He fought that battle like he was a 21 year old olympian. Yet he needs a cane or in some cases a floating device to preform everday functions, say like walking down the hallway.
And don't say he used the force. Vader had the force but could not repair his lungs. The man needed a full out body suit just to sustain life.

I didn't really have a problem with Yoda ramping up. In fact I really quite enjoyed it and I believe it is one of the oly times outside of the original movies that a dimension was added to a character.
Yes Yoda does get around with a limp and a cane and I think this is a fantastic aspect of his personality. "Judge me by my size..." and my appearance. Feel free to pass me off a some small feeble little creature that is of no consequence. Of course it will be a grave error. It is a fantastic tool that Yoda uses. He is over 700 years old, why not behave like people think that you should. It will provide an enormous tactical advantage. Most people would simply pass him off as of no consequence and let's face it that's what we see Luke do in ESB until he shows him otherwise.
I just feel that Yoda is very clever. He knows that dark times are coming. He can't see them, but he'll use every advantage he can to combat them when they come along. And his "Frailty" is a very good advantage to perpetuate.
I would like to think that this was something intentional on Lucas' part, but I really think it was more about giving people what he thought they wanted to see - a lightsaber wielding Yoda. That there was potentially a little more depth to it was more likely accidental.
