More Lucas... Quotes from an interview about the DVD's

"AP: Why not release both the originals and special editions on DVD?
Lucas: The special edition, that's the one I wanted out there. The other movie, it's on VHS, if anybody wants it. ... I'm not going to spend the, we're talking millions of dollars here, the money and the time to refurbish that, because to me, it doesn't really exist anymore. It's like this is the movie I wanted it to be, and I'm sorry you saw half a completed film and fell in love with it. But I want it to be the way I want it to be. I'm the one who has to take responsibility for it. I'm the one who has to have everybody throw rocks at me all the time, so at least if they're going to throw rocks at me, they're going to throw rocks at me for something I love rather than something I think is not very good, or at least something I think is not finished.
AP: Do you pay much attention to fan reactions to your choices?
Lucas: Not really. The movies are what the movies are. ... The thing about science-fiction fans and "Star Wars" fans is they're very independent-thinking people. They all think outside the box, but they all have very strong ideas about what should happen, and they think it should be their way. Which is fine, except I'm making the movies, so I should have it my way."

THANKS, GEORGE.

Well, you know what I say to that, George?
That half completed film is a million times the film you're releasing now.
Mr Lucas, you are a wanker.

First of all the special edition had to be re-specialized to fit wtih your bloody prequels, so just how many times do you plan to make a final completed film?
Second, you're a bloody billionaire. You not spending a million dollars to make the vast majority of your fans happy is like Nicholas the Second not spending a few bucks to feed the starving masses of Russia.
Third, maybe people wouldn't throw rocks at you if you didn't screw with the trilogy.
Fourth, Are you quite aware that in the answer to a single sentence question you managed to use the words "I" or "Me" about fifteen times? This shows some kind of disturbing self obsession and I'd suggest you see a mental health professional.
"But I want it to be the way I want it to be. I'm the one who has to take responsibility for it. I'm the one who has to have everybody throw rocks at me all the time"
Thank you Hayden Christiansen
You forgot to mention that your fans are holding you back though.

The very first thing Lucas did when making the SE was to completely restore the OT, so it shouldn't be a big thing to refurbish that. Oh, and you would make millions George. Half completed my ass!! It's a horribly dishonest way of treating the fans. But I think he knows this. Why else would he be on the defensive?
Lucas: Not really. The movies are what the movies are. ... The thing about science-fiction fans and "Star Wars" fans is they're very independent-thinking people. We've noticed... But I think this is a kind of defense mechanism for George. I mean, he really couldn't logically or artistically defend the changes he has made to the films. Not with any convincing arguments except the now classic "Wouldn't it be cool if..." Another thing, why does he change the Greedo scene again? So the SEs weren't really quite finished either? I thought you had a vision here George... ya bullshittin bastich!

Oh, boo hoo, George. It must be HORRIBLE to have to spend $10 million to release a DVD that would make $100-200 million. How does he sleep at night thinking of his financial plight?
