QUOTE (Madam Corvax @ Jul 14 2005, 04:03 AM)
I don't want to sound patronising Jordan, but welcome to the adult life. If you have relied on you parents so far for your judgements, then starting to think on your own is painfull and an messy. Things are not simple any more. That is why some pepole love religion, too - they don't have to think, somebody else is doing all the thinking for them.

It is very appealing - imagine, you don't have to think and make painful decisions for the rest of your life. You just shut your eyes, shut your reason and tell yourself that Jesus Christ is your saviour and you will gain eternal life in the end.
whoa, listen to your self. she is right, its hard on your own. many people stray when they are on their own. and being religious doesnt mean shutting your mind to reason or thought. God incourages thought and one of the big parts of being a christian is making rational decisions. probably the hardest things for me to get past was genesis. i hate how many christians interpret the creation. i still think of it as a metaphor because of my reason. dont stand there and warn me not to offend anybody when you probably just now offended jordan, and seriously offended me. quit being a hipocrite or however thats spelled.

It's spelled "hypocrite." From your recent posts, you don't sound like the type of person Ms. Corvax is refering to, and there's a bit of a difference between calling homosexuality a defect like autism and insulting someone who refuses to think for his/her self. I believe what she was talking about were people who like the comfort of not having to worry about meaning or lack there of in the universe (or who hide from it). It's about taking the easy and lazy way instead of actually giving your religion/beliefs a good looking at to determine whether they are right for you, not just blasting every Christian out there.

Hope so. I miss my cat *sniff*. Unless I'm going to hell, then I know she'll be there. She was sweet as sugar to me, but scratched everyone else.

According to Jehova's Witness pamphlets I've seen, animals exist in heaven, and children frolic with bears and lions. Whether they are animals that have died on earth after atoning for their sins or not, I do not know.

Those pamphlets are just horrendous. Every person seems like they're from the 1930's or so and they're always in these eden-like places filled with lions and not so nice animals. Oh well. Dumb.

But Inspector Rex must surely be there - and all golden retrievers otherwise the system doesn't work.

If the Afghan wolfhound and the Irish setter make it to doggy heaven, it will be proof that the innocence arising from stupidity is a virtue.

But is there a Duck heaven? Is there a Flamingo heaven? Is there an alien heaven?

We may never know the answers to those questions. The truth is out there.......

hung below is that one about don't have kittens until a tiime where fur is not used because it it cheap and plentiful. Help control the animal population.

I'm going home to see Louis in a few. Thank God for my puppy dog.

First, let me say that I respect all of you as brilliant individuals (what other kind of individual would post here?? happy.gif) And that I am sorry if I offend anyone.

Second, let me say that I HATE RELIGION!! I hate the judgmentalism, the mentality that "just because I believe in God, and He believes in me, then everything that I do and say and believe has this giant stamp of approval on it." I have been around "Religious folk" all of my life. How can they expect to "change the world," when they don't ever demonstrate that the people in the world are worth anything.

Third, I believe that what is wrong should be classified as wrong. I don't think that in the grand scheme of things it is going to make a bit of difference if I am a "better person" than someone else around me. It is a level playing field, no matter how good I try to be, I will always mess up, just like everybody else. If you don't believe that you mess up, just talk to your Mom crying.gif ! Because I mess up, I can't point the finger at someone else and say "He or she is baaad." I like Homosexuals, I don't like to think about what they do, but they are people just like me, and so they deserve for me to treat them like I treat me. Or better.

Fourth, I am a Christian. I am not religious, nor am I perfect. I will never be, because I cannot keep myself from doing wrong. Christianity isn't about religion. I am happy not because I go to church, or because I "merely accepted" Jesus. I am happy because I know he loves me. He died so that I wouldn't have to be seperated from him for eternity. That love has changed my life, and now I can have compassion for other people. I am NOT out to make you join my "religion," but I do encourage you to look into that relationship. My "religion" would be stupid...
"The problem is, you're not a kangaroo... that's a bear... and he's in your pants."
"Maybe artists shouldn't talk about their art."
"Well kids, I guess your father isn't a hermaphrodite."
"Izzy! enough with the rabid smootching!!"
