Well I know a pencil can be sharpened so many times but also sharpeners do go blunt after heavy use too and needs to be exponentially sharpened...
Both sides have their advantages and disadvantages.
One has it easy at first. Easy come easy go.
The other has it hard and that sharpness speaks throughout itself.
All could equal to an equivalence.

The differences of inferiority:
Pencil -> Penci sharpener
Pencil sharpener -> blade sharpener
One is wood the others are all metals which might speak for toughness for both items in different ways. Wood can be sharper at it's peak (after sharpening) but it can't sustain that for very long under pressure. A sharpener may not beat the peak of a pencil's sharpness it creates but it can sustain it's own sharpness for longer.
Don't worry, the pencil sharpener will let off a little tiny bit of slack each time it is sharpened but very slowly.
