What put me off a little was the term "Engineers", and how he suddenly knew that this was their name. Doesn't seem to fit. Chzo himself has a name that can't really be pronounced, he's from a sphere which likes to set rather harsh contrasts and has that little distortion hobby going on - so why would he rely on something like order and go as far as to give his servants such obvious names?
Would have been better to simply state something like "As this was their behaviour, I chose this name for them." instead of receiving divine inspiration, methinks.

But I have to look deeply into the plot since I always get things mixed up.
I guess it goes something like this; the big eye is like some god thing and the tall man (pyramid face) was his butt buddy, since he was formerly the migician who let him loose. I also know that the African toy was made of the wood from some Irish tree grown over where eye-thing-god was let loose and that it carried some curse-that-gets-people-killed-everytime-they-face-the-tall-dude-appears probably he's got some fetish. And then there [pyramid head x Jason] John Doe necrophile who's got the plot device in his head and he/it kills people too, it's just that he's more random. And then there's future boy who commit suicide and becomes a bald hippie and shit that I don't understand happens. Then there's the protagonist in 6day's who gets laid and then becomes mummy god through some process I do not understand.
And then there's Trilby. Well, he's not generic. Pretty simple. He can rarely be a dick.
Did I miss anything?

Such generosity makes you wonder why a pure-hearted soul like you would want to spend its time on such a godforsaken forum...
Oh, wait, I just realized the implication... we have someone new to corrupt.

I'm sure glad about one thing. Yahtzee is still looking for more influences. Hope he doesn't pull any more of those Silent Hill rip-offs. And let's hope he anonymously posts a few comments here and communicate with us, the typing class.

It's my belief that YZ still views these forums - quite often he will reference something that we've been talking about in his videos. Ok, yes, I assume he gets emails saying similar things, but it's not beyond the realms of imagination, is it?

No, no nononononononooooo. He would certainly enjoy our critique. He loves us. It's just that some people don't show it

It's nice and scary stuff but they fucked up the endgame part in my opinion.
Also it has some infuriating bugs and indeed a dodgy combat system.

Also this game is a great big trial and error experience, took me about 10 deaths to successfully escape the hotel, but surprisingly it wasn't a real bother.

Check here for nostalgia's sake.
Doesn't really look worse than the people that you usually encounter on the beaches here, if to be honest...

But you get one Laugh for the effort.
You're a good person, Friend. Don't let the villains of the forum get to you. I too prefer it when Yahtzee writes humour. After reading the story I remembered why I don't watch horror films.
Edit: No wait, I'm going to expand.
So there are other beings still alive in the world of magic-with-a-k. But then, Chzo isn't alive either. From what Ericsson tells us, he's a corpse which is a gateway from the ethereal world to his existence (his own realm/world?). We've also learned that Chzo isn't sentient, which makes sense. If all he is is magic and pain then he doesn't have a mind. And his physical existence is only a corpse/gateway.
Whether he was sentient or not doesn't matter. What we can learn from this is that the New Prince had nothing to do with being loyal or a body guard. The New Prince was made to torture the Arrogant Man.
Also, we have to question where the portals lead. Cabadath's portal couldn't have lead to the ethereal world, because it showed a living Chzo. 6DAS bomb/portal trigger is the same. What I am impressed by is Trilby getting away from the hotel if it was designed to ust capture things to torture.
Eh, I'm rambling some. If I've said anything inconsistent, please correct me.

For some strange reason, the city level reminds me of Deus Ex.
And the fact that 'S' is the use button, makes things a lot more confusing. It feels weird for while until you get used to it.
But I am impressed by the programming. Guns feel natural.
Also it has some infuriating bugs and indeed a dodgy combat system.
I've read some where that there is a major bug in the last level that occurs only on high end computers.
Or was this bug on Clive Barker's Undying?
I expected shoop-da-whoop
