hi!
i just realized i left a typo in that quoted text: it was supposed to be "i was hella glad that the game didn't take a resident evil direction with the combat." i don't know how that got by me the first time, sorry. it won't let me fix it now either.

I thought Pyramid Head had a part in Origins too?

I didn't like Silent Hill 4 though, too many screens, puzzles consisting of finding your way in rooms that all look alike, too much emphasis on fighting, and the unkillable monsters GRRRR. Those didn't scare me, they just pissed me off. Although the story seemed good, I just didn't bother to finish the damn thing.

"i was hella glad that the game didn't take a resident evil direction with the combat."

.... Oh. xD Sorry. Well, I still think the advanced combat took away from the whole experience.

PH was not in Origins. However, there was a cheap PH knockoff called the Butcher, who served the exact same purpose and who also walked around with a big overcompensating knife. It was lame. -thumbs up-

And don't get me wrong, it took me months to finish SH4, because most of the time I was too bored with it to pick up the controller again. But the story is good. And for me, the most important part of Silent Hill has always been the story. Too bad the only thing good about the later games is the music.

...Am I the only person who wasn't all that wowed by Silent Hill in general?

Nah, I played Silent Hill 2 for a while at night and it did give me the creeps somehow but I really soon got used to that feeling and just walked right through the parts, so I finally gave it up and searched for something better at that time.

Think I went back to playing Albion or so...

The music was a definite plus. And I see your point about the stronger character detracting from the overall scariness. Welcome to the forums.

On a different note, who's that guy in Resident Evil 4 with the tea cosy over his head wielding a chainsaw? He seems pretty cool.

Also, in Silent Hill 1, what was with that little black fat baby ghost that kept wandering around the school grounds? I always felt safe when I was around him....

That's Dr Salvador I think. He's very handy with that chainsaw.

I believe the baby was somehow related to

I still miss the unique intro/outro music. Does this make me a freak? Well...more of a freak?

As for the review itself, didn't say much I wasn't expecting. I enjoyed Leslie the cleaner at the end: not as good as the Painkiller short, but a nice chuckle to end with.

It couldn't have been more predictable, if I had already seen it twenty times.

I always thought the monsters of the Silent Hill series were the comic relief.

No no no, that's what the voice acting is for.

Videogames are dying. Hooray for that. More kids would go outside stabbing each other. Saving the trouble for the police to start picking them up from the streets alive, since body bags don't resist.

Yes, I thought of this overnight:
