You never fail to entertain me, barend.
As for the topic at hand...I went into the theater with the lowest of expectations, and just tried to enjoy the action that I could.
The movie had MANY plot holes, etc...but at least the final lightsaber fight (Obi and Ani...not Yodes and Palps) was entertaining.

no ones saying it wasn't entertaining...
it's just that the OT were worth being religiously fanatic about, but these...
are fucked by comparrison...
i won't deny i'll watch it again... but i'm 29 dude!!! i'm at that point in my life where if i'm forced to cringe too many times in a single sitting i may look old before my time...

Yeah, "I'll see you in hell" does take you out of the moment a bit, but think about how that line would've been written were it in the PT;
"Isa see yousa in tha bombad afterlife. Oo, goober fish!" or maybe;
"I'll see you in hell, just as soon as you fill out form 76319, reassess the tax situation on Nabooboo, hold a vote of no confidence, and get re-elected for the office of President for your second term with a majority in both the upper and lower house, allowing you to amend the Constitution to get a third term AND the Bill of Rights to give yourself the right to be protected from dismemberment, both with a lightsaber and otherwise," or;
"I'll see you in the afterlife for big bantha poodoo-heads."

I thought the "then I'll see you in hell" line was great! It's a a good introduction to Han's attitude of "don't tell me the odds". The character is developped, gradually, throughout the film, rather than having him just repeat the line "don't tell me the odds" several times.

It was just as bad as "Princess, we have a visitor."
At any rate, we'd already heard a "damn" and "hell" in the 1977 SW. Frankly, Han's line didn't pull Me away.

Are you referring to me or somebody else... if you're referring to me, let me put it another way...
To enjoy the Prequels you must
a) Lower my standards
Kick aside your sensibilities
c) Strangle your tastes, and
d) pretend story logic doesn't exist

why must I lower your own standards...?

"I'll see you in hell" is bad because "hell" is an Earth concept. They're in outer space.

yeah, but it was harrison ford playing the lovable scoundrel han solo in a cool film.
not an annoying little immaculatley conceived slave kid who was full of midichlorians trying a specific come-on line to an elected 14 year old queen.
-----------
also 'hell' is one term for a very vague and broad concept. it was more a reactionary statement that could not be settled with 'see you in the negative option of the afterlife'
there was no reason to call padme an angel.
he could have just said 'you're beautiful' or 'your so pretty the queen should be serving YOU!'
'angel' is far more religiously specific christian than the concept of 'hell'

The problem is, I tried to watch A New Hope on my computer recently, and I didn't care about this film. I remember I was fascinated by it once.
Face it, it was great because it was new, simple and full of special effects. The plot besides Vader being Luke's father was weak and completely not original.
PT could be much better, with tragedy and moral ambiguity, but much of potential was wasted.

And didn't Mr. Lucas insist the actresses not wear underwear because there is no underwear in space? Or was that just a crazy rumor I heard from my friend who likes Star Wars. Or maybe I'm thinking of someone else.
