I would have to say the thing that was added in the special edition that annoyed me the most was the extra Vader footage.

Originally Vader walked through the hallway of Cloud City and said in an irritated voice "Bring me my shuttle". This scene was short and blended in well with what was going on.

In the special edition you have this entire sequence with Vader saying in a horrible voice "alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival" followed by him boarding an Imperial Shuttle, flying to the Executor, and getting off the Imperial Shuttle with several troops lined up. The scene is way too long and distracts you from wondering whether or not Luke will be saved. The music played during these extra scenes also does not mesh.

I find this to be more irritating than the altered Emperor/Vader conversation.

I was never that bothered by the extra Vader footage in TESB. I agree that it felt out of context with the rest of the scene, but I'm indifferent to it overall. It doesn't do that much to hurt the viewing experience. What bothers me is why Lucas thought it was so vital to put those scenes in. It worked before... why the change?

I didn't mind the new Vader/Palpatine dialogue, either. Some of it is a bit stupid, and Palpatine talks way to slow compared to ROTS and ROTJ, but it makes sense when viewed after seeing ROTS. I don't think I actually minded any of the Special Edition changes for TESB, only the other two were hurt by it.

The minute I hear Jango Fett's voice on Boba the whole movie is ruined. Nobody needs to be reminded of the PT while watching the best SW movie. As stupid as Vader/Palpy's new dialogue is, we dont have to be reminded of any of the PT crap during that scene

I forgot about Morrison doing Boba's dialogue. I take back what I said - that was the worst change. Totally stupid and pointless. Sure, it makes sense if you take the prequels into consideration... but there was nothing wrong with the old voice in the first place! Lucas could have just said that Boba, by TESB, was at a different age than Jango was in AOTC, hence the different voice.

Morrison doesn't even say the lines with much emotion or feeling. Thankfully Boba didn't have that many lines so the pain isn't too bad...

It's amazing the diffrence though. In the original versions the lines were delivered to perfection. Boba Fett seemed cold, calculating and ruthless...everything a bounty hunter should be. Morrison comes across as flat and boring.

I'll agree that the extra Vader footage is stupid. It doesn't bother me as much as other changes but it strikes me as being totally unnecessary, much like the Wampa footage.

The worst change, IMHO is Luke's scream.

I agree. Why repair something that isn't broken? It was perfect the way it was and now Lucas has ruined it. angry.gif

I don't mind the changes made to ESB except this one.

Do you think we could get some sort of petition going to get a release of a cleaned-up version of the original release - like the '95 VHS edition, but cleaner?

Okay, terrible idea. I'll rephrase it.

"Do you think we can get some kind of crazed gang going to firebomb George Lucas' ranch into the ground - kind of like Waco, but not?"

It wasn't a crazed gang that firebombed waco. It was an out of control janet reno who never had to answer for ANYTHING. (Or it was the administration which told her what to do, take your pick.)

But yeah, torch the place.

Which is why I said, "kind of like Waco, but not." I probably should've accentuated the "but not" more though.

Looked like a layup, and I took it.

But you're right on with the sentiment. Must have Fire.
