I made it for my rm2k project. It will give the player a merry chase at some point.

Gobbler: How do you mean shading doing-over? (I didn't want to involve photoshop at all, if that's what you're getting at.)

The bandages are to hide the fact that it's clearly The Rock from the Mummy Returns, right?

In all seriousness it looks intriguing, if a pain in the ass to animate; however, I can't tell if it's the pink background or whatnot throwing off my perception but some of the colors look pretty bright and chipper for what I assume to be an ancient horror from a dead civilization. The lion's paws in particular kinda remind me of happy face buttons. It's probably the pink...

Is this merry chase taking place inside a tomb or something? If so, and if your palette allows it, you might consider more muted colors, if only for atmospheric reasons.

It's well-done, just awkward as hell. I mean, it's so uneven and criss-crossed and lopsided. I'm sure if I encountered IRL I would be very frightened, but as a still picture it doesn't work. Cool concept though, the scorpion with the lion with the person with the alligator. Reminds me of dad.

I concur with setasouji's perception, too comicy. Strange contrast between fine looking tail and bland colours of the human torso, needs more depth.

Gee, ain't I being constructive today? "Needs moar desu". *Le Sigh*

My very first necropost, yay.
I started working on something else, this time with AGS. Here's one of the protagonists in all his not-very-well-shaded glory:

Frankly David, I think that's fucking awesome.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to offer my services as a music composer, should you need one.

I kick ass at midi.

Looks familiar.

Stop being so goddamn good at this. I can only imagine it will take you an age to animate as you will have to sketch every frame. Or is that how this sort of thing is normally done?

People have pointed out that the bloke bears a striking resemblance to Douglas from Silent Hill 3. I sort of see where they're coming from, now that I think about it, but screw it. Weird thing is, this guy's role in the story will be similar, ie. babysit the female protagonist and keep her sane.

Since I had to resize/downgrade the sprite a bit so that it doesn't occupy half the screen in AGS, it shouldn't be that much of a pain to animate, especially because it's his legs that will actually move. His body will just bob up and down, and since he keeps his hands in his pockets, I can get away without animating his arm, too. I'll use my recently pirated version of Photoshop to keep his body and legs apart and manage the frames, and salvage everything possible from this view when making the side view for it.

Spann, I'll get back to you on the music as soon as I whip up something worthwhile. I should see if I can actually keep myself interested enough to go through with this, without wasting anyone else's time. Thanks for the offer in the meantime.

Oh, here's a little bonus background art, the majority of the game will take place inside this house. Obviously it's not done yet, but it'll be fun to compare to the finished version:

I just wanted to say that even if the game doesn't pan out, your spriting is pretty amazing, David.

Do people actually make a decision about whether they will enjoy a game or not on a sliver of concept art? I honestly can't comprehend such a thing.
