Wow, tough crowd! *laugh* But I do see what y'all are saying... I do mostly cartooning-type stuff, which is probably why the features are more exaggerated. I definitely wish I were better at the life-drawing stuff. Oh well.
And, uh... I don't have any art software besides MS Paint. Which is what I used. Hence the crappiness of the cut-out and placement. That, and I'm not enough of a perfectionist to care. I'd never cut it in bobsickle's art school. =0)

Cartoony drawings are fine really. But if you are going for a cartoonish look, this means you have to exaggerate specific characteristics of the character's image, or else it will end up like it did - people telling you it doesn't look like him.

And the film should be shot in sepia, because real life was in sepia in the 1990s.

I use this:

It's not fancy, but it's free to download and it gets the job done.

I'm unlikely to do fan-art, but if I did, my medium would more likely be pastel (for a colour one) or pencil. Painting is annoying, and takes too long... Mistakes are also worse and harder to hide. Then again pastel's a bitch if you accidentally lean on it
Hairspray. Easy solution. You can buy cans of stuff from art supply shops to "fix" pastel or high graphite-content pencil work so it doesn't smudge, but cheap hair lacquer spray does exactly the same thing.
Use [rifle] on [clocktower].

I meant before I finished... I've had art teachers (read: one art teacher) who've (read: whose) "helped" me by basically ruining my picture... He managed to make the figure in my picture into some pseudo-anime freak! Then when showing me what to do with the background, he managed to put his arm across a whole face, completely ruining it! Grr... The picture was made up of two heads basically. It turned out ok, but I could've finished it much quicker without that teacher...
Tiredness can kill! Have a break, have a Kit-Kat.

Yes! A fanart thread! I've been looking for one of these!
...Crap. It's Sandara's Trilby painting. I found that on goggle image search while researching hats and damned if it's not a regular masterpiece. Just the emotion on that gaunt face...
Oh well. Here it goes anyway.
I recently managed to hijack a friend's computer and became addicted to "The Art of Theft" but when, after around six hours of game-time, my friend got sick of staring at the wall of her own room and kicked me out to do something useful, this was what I did.
It's just a 12-frame pencil test, so it's pretty rough. I'd really like some feedback on it so I can clean it up and turn it into something sweet for my demo reel that'll make everyone say "Wow look at that talented animator, lets give her a bucket of money!"
...I'm just stalling now so here it is.

Yay for unwanted thread revival. Again. Go me.

That's really all I have to say.

Figured I'd post a bit of 5DAS type fanart myself.
John DeFoe, Zero Punctuation style.
I know, it's not perfect but the idea popped into my mind and I couldn't get it out. XD
